Many people think that organizing a pageant is profitable, it might be true, however, one has to realize that it involves a great amount of work, whether it is lobbying for sponsorship, or training the participants.I am not trying to say good words about the organizers, I agree they have to improve in some ways, but it is because of their hard work and devotion, Montreal is able to have this unique cultural scene, and also give young ladies opportunities to showcase themselves, regardless what their future dreams are. And about the contestants bribing the organizer, such a statement is not fair to those winners who have achieved their result on their own. And not all pageant girls are "air-heads", many of them are just driven, engergetic young ladies who look to expand their horizon, to experience life.
Whether the organizaton is sincere or corrupted
is besides the point.
I just find the idea of beauty pageant a ridiculous and outdated concept.
One is judged solely by the look and figure.
The pretence of adding a talent event,
like juggling, doing a few martial arts move,
sing a song, giving a speech about world peace, etc.,
is just sugarcoating an otherwise meaningless contest.
In some countries, like Argentina,
preparing for a beauty contest is big business.
There are specialized schools for it.
There are even beauty pageants for preteen kids in the United States.
