根据我和我一些朋友的亲身体会，在这里找男朋友或女朋友真是很难，难的程度可以打一个比喻，你在这花100分的时间和精力，也很难有收获；但同样的这100分，你可以在国内找10个男或女朋友，这是可以理解的，生活圈子比国内小多了，再加上生活和工作不如在国内，即使能有以前的收入，但地位不象以前高；最不协调的是，在这里的男男女女择偶条件却比以前更高。我相信，在这还是有朋友，象Nickole这样beautiful, nice and smart，但那也是万草丛中一点红，这一点红也需要nice, rich, funny and handsome去衬托，这无可厚非，自古以来都是英雄配美人的吗！只可怜象我这样貌不惊人，也一无事处的人，在这也只有虚度年华的份了。不是有很多网上的文章提及这个海外华人的个人切身问题吗，有同感，有共鸣，请跟贴。 作者: OPEL 时间: 2003-8-14 05:40

hi, if you were smart and nice, you could be rich though your work by yourself. that means you do not need to find a man who must be rich. moreover if you were smart, you would not have posted such a stupid Ad and you would have known "handsome" is nothing. the good personality is the most important for everyone.however, i am pretty sure the money and good looking is the most important for you.

the issue here is that Nickole did not make it quite clear whether she is looking for a husband or just a boyfriend to play around.
for me, as a guy, i always like to go with a pretty & smart girl(notice: i m not talking about marriage). i think probably most of men have the similar idea. i think what mayi is talking about here is sth related to marriage.
