Reading is learning.

Should you learn Chinese by reading extensive material, get a copy of weekly Chinese newspaper --Sinoquebec Chinese Newspaper --the only Chinese newspaper in Montreal printed in modern Chinese/Mandarine/China's Official language.

I don't think this man is a Canadian whose native language is English because his English is so bad. Nobody notes?

标题: What kind of native English speaker you are
Mr. Sweetheart_X, I am a Chinese. I have been learning English over 10 years. I have never heared an English speaker say " if you are interesting, ......" when they actually intended to say " if you are interested, .......". So, please do not mislead us , a group of enthusiastic English learners.

标题: Native Canadian
Actually, if you would prefer an explanation regarding the details of the typographical error that you happened upon as you were perusing the message that I posted seeking a Mandarin teacher, I would be more than content to provide it to you. Given that I am a native Canadian, and that this website is predominantly Chinese, the logical course of action was for my wife to post the message for me. My wife is very talented in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English; however, since English is not her first language and she was in a rush to post this message, a small typographical error was made. If you are in doubt as to my abilities with either English or French, I would be more than happy to provide you with references to several academic journals in which my works have been published. This is relevant because these journals require perfect grammar and syntax.

Furthermore, I noticed that you made some grammatical errors in your message. As you are in Montreal, I am pleased to offer you a free correction. Hopefully, you can learn from this and your English will improve, thereby leading to a better life in Montreal.  Here are your mistakes and the relevant corrections:

For 2M:

1. “I think you should still keep learning your mother tongue no matter you are 25 or 35”.  Your meaning is not very clear here. I think that you are trying to tell me that I require another 10 years to master my mother tongue; however, the manner in which your message is conveyed is not using proper English. A better way to express your idea would be: I think that you still need another 10 years to master your mother tongue.

2. “Forget the Chinese in a few years”. This sentence is about as clear as muddy water. The literal interpretation of this sentence is that I should forget all Chinese people in a few years. I believe that your message is that I should only learn Chinese in a few years rather than now. If this is the case, here is an improved sentence conveying a similar message: You should forget learning Chinese for the moment, and perhaps try again in a few years.

For beyondspace:

1. “Nobody notes?” I believe that you are seeking validation from the other members of the board as to whether or not they notice my supposedly “poor English”. In this case, the correct sentence for you to use is “Did anyone else notice?” Good luck in Montreal.

For breakeven:

Well, I am pleased to see that you have made such a strong effort to learn English! You should really continue on this path, who knows, maybe someday you can even become a great English author! However, before that stage, let me offer you some grammatical and syntax advice:

1. “What kind of English speaker you are” While the meaning of your question is clear, you reversed the verb and the subject. The proper way to ask the question is: What kind of English speaker are you? You can apply this logic to all types of questions, for example: Are you Chinese? Are you sure that you really studied English for 10 years? What kind of person are you?

2. “I have been learning English over 10 years”. Again, the majority of your sentence is correct; however you neglected to add the word “for”; which in this case would be used to denote duration of time. In this case, your sentence should read: I have been learning English for 10 years.

Perhaps another 5 more years and you will be on your way to English authorship. If you need anyone to proofread your documents, I would be more than happy to arrange that service be provided to you.

Everyone understands that sometimes typographical errors are made, and this should not be deemed a reflection of linguistic ability.

I think that my Chinese fellows are smart enough to detect your wife's English grammatical errors. They had some errors in writing since English is not their mother tongue, most of guys came here only months or a few years. Moreover, they don't have Anglophone wife or husband.

Of course, guys here are suspicious of your English language knowledge, while you were posting a language (English) exchange message. Who cares if you asked for a shopping idea? Do u think you wife  just made typographical errors? i don't think so.  Do you say " i am Canadian"? or "if i can read the Chinese newpaper" i will write" i  am a Canadian". i don't mind your wife made some errors, but she used your name to post a message for Englsih-Chinese language exchange. People like to learn good English language.  Many Anglophone are not well-educated, they  don't know how to write, do u think we should learn English from them?

Honestly, i won't learn English from you since you can't teach your wife well, even though you think your wife is very talented in English and Mandarin. If your wife is very talented in Mandarin as u said, why didn't you learn Mandarin from wife? Actually, it is none of my business. However, if you learnt Mandarin from your wife and not meet your wife's logic, you would get a hammer on your head " Do you have a brain or not"

Ditto!

Cool down, guys! You guys just make this thing turn funny!

Hey Sweetheart_X, no matter if you are a native English speaker or not, you are Canadian, right?

So can you help me to improve my poor English? In exchange I can help you to speak Mandarin!

I hope we both can be good teachers! ^_^

BTW, I already sent the mail, go check out!

There are individuals who decided to take it upon themselves to challenge my ability in English, and were interested to portray me as an individual who is interested in misleading. This is absolutely not the case. However, some people seem to be extremely closed-minded and judgmental...very quick to throw accusations of being misleading and dishonest. Is this the sign of educated individuals? Perhaps not.

Regarding your question "Do you say I am Canadian?": The answer is yes. Someone can say either "I am a Canadian" or "I am Canadian". Additionally, the fragment "If I can read the Chinese newspaper..." is also in and of itself grammatically correct. Therefore, given that you seem to have some kind of problem with these sentences, even though the English is correct, I suspect you have more a problem with me than with the syntax/grammar of my English. The balance of the errors that you seem to have issues with, as I said before, is typographical in nature. Some of the questions you asked me don't really make any sense, and therefore I cannot answer them. For example: "Who cares if you asked for a shopping idea?" Actually, I never made reference to shopping, stores, or buying anything. Please make it more clear what you are referring to. Perhaps you are trying to post something in another thread.

Furthermore, I also do not have an Anglophone wife, for if I did I would not be seeking to learn Mandarin, now would I? The term "Anglophone" refers to one who's native tongue is English, and since my wife's native tongue is Mandarin, she does not qualify as an Anglophone. I never claimed that my wife is perfectly fluent in English; however it is evident from her writings that her English is clearly better than yours. I suggest you continue to learn, and I would be more than happy to help you. Finally, in response to a question that is clearly none of your business ("why didn't you learn Mandarin from wife?"): several people (native Chinese) have agreed that for a foreigner to truly catch perfect Mandarin, two things should be followed:

1. The teacher should be from Beijing or Hubei or as close to Beijing as possible
2. The teacher should be of the same gender as the student, to facilitate the proper pronunciation

I would suggest that you demonstrate your level of education and in the future refrain from insulting people on topics that you have a weak knowledge of. Moreover, I also suggest that you demonstrate your true character by engaging in civilized conversation, rather than childish attacks.

Learning English is an important event, as is learning Mandarin. That is why I am seeking to exchange with high-quality Mandarin speakers. In exchange, I provide high quality English. No one ever suggested that you learn English from people who cannot write or are not well-educated.

I have come here to offer a simple exchange of language; there are those who are more interested in creating disturbances or challenging me. Therefore, in order to successfully defend against challenges to my English ability, a demonstration was required.  Hopefully additional demonstrations will not be required and we can have more peaceful and civilized discussions.

Sweetheart_X, do you understand me in the above Chinese?
==================

Hi, all friends here, why do you like to disturb another friend who wishes to learn Chinese ?

I think Sweetheart_X performs well in his English.  Go ahead, friends.
作者: cloudrain200    时间: 2005-5-26 22:53
Sweetheart-X: I am not interested in fighting with you here, since your comprehension ability needs to improve a lot, and you'd better return to school to learn Logic. You understand what i wrote, but you don't understand what i meant. You would say"you continue to improve your english...". You know how to take the fragment "if i can read the Chinese newspaper..", but how do u explain article THE before Chinese newspaper? i feel embarrassed for you, guy. I am not interested in comparing my english knowledge with your wife, if you believe your wife's english is better, fine, it is up to you. You mentioned you had academic publication, You can also refer to British Journal Of Pharmacology, May, 1997, check my publication.

I posted my opinion here because i don't like the way you treated my Chinese fellows.  Now you put forward other conditions of your future mandarin teacher. Do you know what mandarin really means? Don't tell me it is the name of orange. Don't treat this post as demonstration. If i were you, i would simply tell the truth: sorry, it was my Chinese wife who posted the message. I think everybody understands right away, no further questions.  However, you choose to help correct Chinese students' writing.  We appreciate it, but people in Canada have tendency to blame it on somebody. I don't like this kind of attitude, if you wife used your name to  post message, you just explained to everybody. In future, I won't be interested in response to your threads anymore. After you improve your Logic ability, we continue to discuss any issues. English syntax is learnt in primary school, Logic is leart in grade10-12 and improved in university. Don't tell it is typographical error: Hebei - Hubei. Do you understand why your wife can't teach you even though you claimed "she is very talented in english, mandarin and Cantonesse..." Your wife gave wrong suggestion: learn mandaran from beijinese or hebeinese.

Finally , i like to say that it is not personal attack, i just listed facts.  You have to understand who created the problem? Don't treat symptoms, we treat cause.

标题: Logic
Actually, you are interested in fighting with me, because if you followed a level of logic that is reflective of a higher education, you would notice that all of your new “arguments”, once again, have no basis. You claim to list just the facts, but you list them in a manner designed to attack. The sentence fragment “If I can read the Chinese newspaper…” is in and of itself grammatically correct. The article “the” denotes a specific Chinese newspaper: the newspaper that SQMedia was referring me to. Therefore, since I am referring to a specific newspaper, the article “the” is required to illustrate that.  I am sure that someone with your level of education can understand this logic.

While we are on the topic of logic, please refrain from challenging me in an area that is clearly not your area of expertise: English or logic. Actually, your English is not too bad, and far better than my Mandarin (of which I know none). However, it is not nearly on the same level as mine. Thus, you should not be challenging my English, just as I would never challenge your Mandarin. Logically, when one has demonstrated superiority in a certain area, the person interested to learn should defer. Hopefully, even through fighting with me you will learn.

P.S. That is great that you claim to have a publication in the British Journal of Pharmacology (1997)! Unfortunately, I was unable to find any publication under the name of cloudrain2000. =(. If you would like, you can refer to The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery (2005), under the title “Hemodilution and surgical hemostasis contribute significantly to transfusion requirements in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass”. You already have my name. Alternatively, I can provide you with a .pdf copy if you like.

You say that you do not like the way your Chinese fellows were treated by me. I did not treat them badly. If you follow the logic and the flow of conversation, who was the one who attacked who first? Who created the problem and who was on the defensive? In terms of correcting the English, if people are interested to question my ability, and are so quick to judge from a typographical error, then obviously they require a clear and solid demonstration. You seem to require multiple demonstrations; thus, it appears as if you are just not interested in having peaceful conversations. Furthermore, someone with your level of education and “logical ability” would have noticed that I did indeed inform everyone that my wife posted the message. Furthermore, I never wrote that Hubei was a typographical error; instead, I wrote that I was unsure how to spell it because I am not familiar enough with China. Everyone else seems to understand this, why don’t you? You should carefully re-read my posts.  That is why you are the only one who continues to question, because unfortunately you are the only one who did not understand. That is alright, I can take this opportunity to explain it to you. As one educated individual to another, I would offer a piece of advice on logic: in order to be truly logical, one must carefully examine all of the facts and evidence before rushing to judgment. One who rushes to judgment out of emotion and partial information is not logical, for emotions are in and of themselves not always rational processes, and using only part of the available information creates an imbalanced view.

It is really a shame that some people do not wish to create a warm and open atmosphere for the fun exchange of language. So what if some small error in writing was committed in the earlier messages? Subsequent messages have obviously cleared up that misunderstanding! You claim that “in the future you are not interested to reply to my posts”, but this is typically the logic of a child who is angry that he or she did not get what she wanted and then decides to throw a temper tantrum. Please, control your emotions and let us discuss things together as adults, in a civilized and peaceful manner! We are all mature here. I welcome any stories you may have about the differences and similarities between Canada and China…

Hey dingding1234, I read about that research. It is actually true and amazing how the brain works sometimes! I like your message, lol.

Chapulin, thanks for your advice. I really don't take those kind of people as representative of Chinese. I think that (just like in every culture and country) you always have some people who are not happy. Thanks for the beginning lesson in Chinese!

I have a question though, does anyone know if there is a website where I can listen to the sound of Chinese? Learning English is a little bit different, because the words and letters generally match the sounds, but when I try to match sounds to Chinese characters, I find I am totally lost! Any advice?

Yes, it is true that my wife posted the message and that I indicated this to clear up any misunderstandings, but since it is under my name and for my benefit, I am taking responsibility for it. As you will notice in the remainder of my correspondence, the first-person is used. If you do not understand what the first-person is, that means I use “I” as the subject. Additionally, you don’t have to worry, your English ability isn’t anywhere near her level. You still have lots of room for improvement. Just examine the corrections to your first message more closely. On the other hand, your friend who offered some suggestions to improve my writing does have pretty good English writing skills. Nonetheless, these suggestions are also flawed, as demonstrated below:

1. Regardless of whether or not “would” is required, inserting “would” into this sentence is grammatically correct. The logic behind this is because this sentence is in the conditional present tense. Read up to refresh your memory about this topic, or ask the person you had “edit” my writing to fully understand this concept.

2. Adding either “some” or “the” into the sentence in question is unnecessary: adding the word “some” is redundant and the article “the” would only be used if I am referring to once specific reference. See my reply to cloudrain2000 for a more detailed explanation about the use of the article “the”.

3. In your less-than-logical attempt to correct my first point (“think you should still keep learning your mother tongue no matter you are 25 or 35”), you are actually contradicting yourself. You claim that your message was clear, and indicate that you think I require an additional decade to master my maiden language. Yet in my interpretation of my message, I reached that very same conclusion and you claim that I misinterpreted your words. If we both reached the same conclusion, I fail to see how I could have misinterpreted your words. You should take cloudrain2000’s advice and develop your logical ability before making an argument. By the way, “misinterpretted” is actually spelt “misinterpreted”; however, I am willing to grant that you may have simply made a typing error.

Unfortunately, your flaw in logical thinking is also evident in your attempt to correct my second point (“Forget the Chinese in a few years”). You claim that you were referring to learning the Chinese language, and that I misinterpreted your words again. However, I indicated that I had reached that very same conclusion. Once again, if you and I both reach the same conclusion, how is it that I could have misinterpreted you? Furthermore, while I initially thought that you misspelled “misinterpreted” as the result of a typographical error, the fact that you repeated the error a second time leads me to believe that you really think misinterpreted is spelt “misinterpretted”. I will reiterate: misinterpreted is the correct spelling of the word.

Instead of attacking, you should learn from the corrections and this way you will improve your English. Hey, it’s a free English lesson…or maybe you prefer to pay for the same thing? I don’t think you “ran out of time” to “correct” the rest of my writing; rather, you just have not found anything wrong with it. Nonetheless, at least if you are spending your time attempting to dissect it for errors, you are learning English. I am happy to provide this service to you. =)

Professor Sweetheart_X,

I bet you must be a jinni. What are you trying to prove here? To prove that you are the master of English? Then trying a GMAT might be a better course or still, you could talk through the night with your talented wife who must be all her eyes.

Good professors do not brag thier abilities of language - after all, it is a tool not a skill. I learnt my English on the street - so what? I communicate very well with all levels of people: on the streets, at workplace, in my wonderful dreams...

If you are still not satisfied with one loyal audience at home, then look for a bigger circle of partners. I am sure there are some Chinese females who will be more anxiously joining your club.

Some of them do not shave their underarms, be patient to teach them - in the same way you teach your  talented wife.

To Sweethear_X:
The following red-coloured letters are my correction of your logic. Don't behave like a kid, while parent criticizes you, you start to cry and lie down the floor.

Actually, you are interested in fighting with me, because if you followed a level of logic that is reflective of a higher education, you would notice that all of your new “arguments”, once again, have no basis (you think so, but these are facts) . You claim to list just the facts, but you list them in a manner (i would like you to understand, otherwise, you missed my points all the time) designed to attack (verify the meaning of attack in your dictionary, all the criticisms are attacks for you, right. Your replies were full of attacks, go back to check your judgement on my message). The sentence fragment “If I can read the Chinese newspaper…” is in and of itself grammatically correct(only a kid says one sentence). The article “the” denotes a specific Chinese newspaper(which one?): the newspaper that SQMedia was referring me to (SQ media mentioned Chinese newpaper, not specific newspaper, we have many kinds of Chinese newpapers). Therefore, since I am referring to a specific newspaper, the article “the” is required to illustrate that. I am sure that someone with your level of education can understand this logic. (we all understand but you)

While we are on the topic of logic, please refrain from challenging me in an area that is clearly not your area of expertise (if you were an expert of Logic and English language, You should cry shame on your self-boosting, i feel embarrassed for your educational system) : English or logic. Actually, your English is not too bad (you are not eligible to evaluate my English), and far better than my Mandarin (of which I know none)(You don't know how to compare, it is a problem of Logic). However, it is not nearly on the same level as mine. Thus, you should not be challenging my English (this is a free country. I can't challenge Prime Minister if i am not a P.M?), just as I would never challenge your Mandarin. Logically, when one has demonstrated superiority in a certain area (i didn't come to discuss your English grammar, i told u before, i posted message here for i didn't like the way you had treated my Chinese fellows, go to check my post), the person interested to learn should defer. Hopefully, even through fighting with me you will learn (?), .

P.S. That is great that you claim to have a publication in the British Journal of Pharmacology (1997)! (1997, 121, 1141-1149, Renal effects of intrathecally injected tachykinins in the conscious saline-loaded  rat: receptor and mechanism of action) Unfortunately, I was unable to find any publication (go to check the above-mentioned article, i was the first author) under the name of cloudrain2000(a net user name is better than a femine name used by a male, sick).

If you follow the logic and the flow of conversation, who was the one who attacked who first?(nobody attacked, people were just suspicious, who is narrow-minded?) Who created the problem (you or your talented wife )and who was on the defensive?(you like to argue) In terms of correcting the English, if people are interested to question my ability, and are so quick to judge from a typographical error(still doesn't amit, sad), then obviously they require a clear and solid demonstration (use your logic, guys were just quesioning your first post, which it was obviously written by wife, anything wrong, plus your wife or you were so rude when SQmedia kindly suggested Chinese newpaper) . You seem to require multiple demonstrations; thus, it appears as if you are just not interested in having peaceful conversations(any critisms were demonstration for you, you are a dictator). Furthermore, someone with your level of education (i have a M.D and M.Sc, it is higher than 99.9 % of Canadians) and “logical ability” would have noticed that I did indeed inform everyone that my wife posted the message. Furthermore, I never wrote that Hubei was a typographical error ( you never admit any errors); instead, I wrote that I was unsure how to spell it (ASK YOUR WIFE) because I am not familiar enough with China. Everyone else seems to understand this, why don’t you? You should carefully re-read my posts. That is why you are the only one who continues to question, because unfortunately you are the only one who did not understand(YES, i don't understand your logic and mental facility) That is alright, I can take this opportunity to explain it to you. As one educated individual to another, I would offer a piece of advice on logic: in order to be truly logical, one must carefully examine all of the facts and evidence before rushing to judgment (this is not theory of Logic, go to ask your high school teacher). One who rushes to judgment out of emotion and partial information is not logical(yourself), for emotions are in and of themselves not always rational processes, and using only part of the available information creates an imbalanced view (any view in favor of you is balanced, weird).

It is really a shame that some people do not wish to create a warm and open atmosphere for the fun exchange of language ( because you and your wife are too confusing). So what if some small error in writing was committed in the earlier messages? Subsequent messages have obviously cleared up that misunderstanding!(it is true, but you were aggressive then) You claim that “in the future you are not interested to reply to my posts”,(i don't like to waste time) but this is typically the logic of a child who is angry (you always judge on somebody, why was i angry?)that he or she did not get what she wanted (i wanted nothing. in fact, you didn't get what you wanted) and then decides to throw a temper tantrum(you just past this age, you know how to manipulate with this technique). Please, control your emotions and let us discuss things together as adults, in a civilized and peaceful manner! We are all mature here. I welcome any stories you may have about the differences and similarities between Canada and China (your logic and attitude are differences between us. plsease go to check my last post, what advices i gave to you, what questions you didn't answner. I will wait for you, otherwise, you will throw your "temper tantrum")

I don't have time to correct your logic in your first reply to my first post. You mentioned anglophone wife, etc., Is it your "logic ability"? I don't like you to pay me  this Logic lesson, it is just a gift for some cheap Canadians. You can go to McGill to register a Chinese course, then you have no so many corrections of your English, logic and Chinese (i don't think you can learn), demonstrations, and attacks. Good luck in your seaching your Chinese teacher!

Hey 2M, guess what? You made some more errors in your English reply this time! Let us start with this one: (“I haven't written any error such as " if you are interesting...." since my junior high school”. Actually, you just made several errors in the aforementioned sentence.

1. “I haven’t written any error such as”… because you are referring to a specific type of error, the correct way to write it is “I haven’t written an error such as”. “Any” should be replaced by “an”.

2. “…since my junior high school”. You are referring to the time you were in junior high school, thus you should write: …since my days in junior high school.

3. The overall sentence would sound something like this: I haven’t written an error such as “if you are interesting…” since my days in junior high school.

Amazing! In one sentence you created two errors, and yet you criticize other people for only making one error in one sentence. Practice your logic before creating an argument…

“I admit but I have no more interest in doing so since my English is good enough to serve my life”. Truly educated people are always seeking to improve their knowledge, because the more you know the more questions you will have. Those who elect to remain stagnated can never progress further. Everyone has the ability to continuously learn, and the decision not to learn reflects laziness and only a dim level of awareness.

“You try to distance us by prasing some and devaluing others? What a naive trick?” Actually, I do no try to create distance between anyone. However, the level of the suggestions that your friend offered is clearly out of your league. I was simultaneously complimenting him or her on the effort and pointing out that it is quite sad that you were pretending that these suggestions were your own. Did you get through school by pretending other people’s work was your own as well?

Regarding the GMAT scores, I think that it is great that Chinese are ranked number one! It’s not a shame at all to native English speakers. Because I am Canadian, one of my values is that I embrace multiculturalism, and I do not follow any forms of racial discrimination. I think that whoever works the hardest should be rewarded the highest scores. High scores are not necessarily a reflection of ability, but rather a reflection of the work ethic that Chinese are extremely famous for. I say congratulations to the Chinese for reaching the top spot on the GMAT! However, I am not sure I can offer you as an individual this same congratulation. I suggest you take the time to continue to improve, you could use it.

Sniper+Plus,

I really think that it is great that you learnt English on the street. You do communicate very well in this language. I am most definitely not a “master” of English; however, I do have some knowledge that I am willing to share. Seems strange that people would not want to take advantage of a free offer…

For you to suggest that I am not satisfied with my wife is an insult that is below the belt. Actually, she is the most beautiful, intelligent, strong, kind, compassionate, loving, caring woman in the world and I would not want anyone else.

If you are seeking additional female companions, then you should try going to some dating websites. I can understand that your only experience is with hairy women, as you seem to be an expert on teaching them how to shave. Or perhaps you have no experience with women at all…maybe you work in a zoo and have experiences with the animals?
作者: Sweetheart_X    时间: 2005-5-28 14:34
Hey cloudrain2000:

“Don't behave like a kid, while parent criticizes you, you start to cry and lie down the floor”. Actually, I am the one who informed you that you are constantly throwing temper tantrums instead of engaging in constructive conversation. Simply repeating my argument back to me is acting just like a child who cannot think of an intelligent thing to retort.

I can understand that you are frustrated and angry, because even though you may have an education, you are still weak in the area of logical thinking. Your “comments/criticisms” all have no basis…yet you insist to type them anyways. For example, SQMedia referred me to the Sinoquebec Chinese Newspaper, which is a specific newspaper. Consequently, the use of the article “the” is appropriate, and your criticism has no value. As I indicated in my last post, you should really improve your logical thinking before engaging in any sort of analysis. Are you sure that you have an MD? I don’t think I would want you to diagnose anything or analyze any experimental results if you do not have strong logical thinking ability. I can understand that you have problems with my logic. After all, when one person who is logical is communicating with another person who is not logical, they will not understand each other. You have already demonstrated weakness in your ability to think logically; therefore I suggest you improve it before discussing anything with another rational person. You will find that your ability to have conversations and for other people to understand you is much improved.

I never claimed to be an expert in the areas of Logic or English. People were suspicious, and therefore I arranged several demonstrations to substantiate my claims. What I did claim was that you are not skilled in Logic, nor are you skilled in English. You should feel shame for your educational experience, because even though you claim to have MD and MSc, you cannot even construct proper arguments. Instead, you resort to childish insults like: “we all understand but you”. Please, stop acting like a child. Either post an intelligent reply or not at all.

Regarding your net username, I was never criticizing it. I was simply stating that you told me to go and search for an article that you had published. I went to the British Journal of Pharmacology and they had no record of a “cloudrain2000”. Logically, if you wanted me to find the article, you would have supplied the title and/or author name(s) if your first reference to the article. Yet you failed to do that. Improve your critical thinking ability, then offer other people suggestions. Did you sleep through all your classes and let your co-author do all the work on the publication? By the way, what hospital do you work at? What is your specialization? I will come and visit you if you like.

You are more than welcome to challenge me, but please do it in a logical, carefully though-out manner, and not as a child hurling insults around. There is nothing “confusing” about my request for a language exchange, except for those who are not capable of thinking logically.

Finally, you seem to be the only one that has a problem with my logic, as you are the only one that challenged it. Therefore, if everyone else understands my logic (which is, quite simply, rational thinking) and you are the only one having difficulty, perhaps this is a sign that there are some thinks you need to work on (like your temper and critical thinking ability). I most certainly will not pay you for this “logic lesson”, because I am the one who had to teach you about logic! I do not believe that you are representative of the Chinese people or culture; perhaps you are the representative of regression, a lack of logic, and narrow-mindedness?

Therefore, I am going to make the first gesture of good-will, and cease my counter-attacks. In order to clear the air, cloudrain2000 and 2M in particular, I apologize to you if you found my comments to be harsh and wish that we can engage in more fruitful discussions. Grab this olive branch, and let's return to civilized conversations. Or else...we may all go crazy...

I know it is hard for you to stop fighting back, because you are still very young. However, it is impossible to persuade people to accept your ideas if they do not want to. From my previous experience, the best way to avoid such a situation is to keep quiet. I am eight years older than you, believe me.

Let me clear out the cloud for you if you are still blind:

There is a saying in Montreal in case you still don't know - the uggliest Chinese women date/marry Caucasian men for the following reasons:

1)  Cross cultural marriage is for the curiosity of white men - why don't they "marry" black men??? Did you see any???. The marrige evaporates or transforms itself into the eternity of the universe - gone with the wind once you are retired.
2) Their chest and/or ass are a flat bed like no other but an airport - I know you want to have something different this time but have something more elegant. Why couldn't you?

3) 4) 5)

There must be a better one in your own nationality because you can communicate more effectively with your matsterly English or French. Apparently your logic doesn't hold water here though you have striven for an excellent show of English.

You know what? The nice Chinese women you described have all married to the Chinese men. The left-over is in your house mortgaged and served.

Sweetheart_X, i wish you would stop your trash talk. like a wild dog, you were barking so loud. You should have listed many "evidences" to prove that cloudrain200 is illogical.

I told you many times before why i spent time here to write to you: to teach you as a honest person. You and your wife posted a thread here for language exchange, as guys here were suspicious of your ability, you started to bark. you and your wife created confusion, and you should have cleared it up. When your wife has limited English knowledge, it was fine. You don't need to boost her as a language talent.

I asked you many questions before, you didn't answner them. You are not eligible to talk about my education, you will never reach that level in your life. Of course, a psych patient will always refuse to admit his problem. Of course, i won't be interested in taking u as my patient, instead i will refer you to my colleague, a Psychiatrist, to help u improve your logic.

I told u before that i wouldn't be interested in response to your reply. However, you thought this would be a temper tantrum, i decided to write you back. If you decide to continue, go ahead.

This country is known for settling matters with mouth instead of violence. Resorting to violence is another proof that you are incapable with the language skill that you bragged about.  Is this how (i.e. with threats and violence) you usually settle accounts with your ex and current wife???

If you are so obessed with the release of your tension even though you have the most talented beautiful caring..wife, then you may join the army (don't forget to bring her with you and let her witness what you will do to others). You will then be able to kill on the battleground. if your hunger of killing intensifies, you can slaughter your comrades and then yourself - I strongly advise that you seek medical help because something under your belt is misguiding your sortie of the release.

Someone like you should be working at a  nightclub in Japan: to be trashed by 日本鬼子 every night because you are so proud of being treated like 小姐.
You remind me of someone I knew: she sleeps around with many  white man around their mid 60's and she is very proud beause she is like you: 低头哈腰象个哈罢狗. You actually need to stand straight otherwise your flat chest will further cave in.

sniper_plus,

Your response is a typical reply from a child who is afraid to get his beating. You have the courage to insult my wife, but not the courage to say these things directly to my face.

This country uses words to resolve discrepancies, but sometimes words don't work on people who are hard-hearted and closed-minded. If you ever took the time to notice, Canada is percentage-wise one of the largest contributors to United Nations Peacekeeping missions. Why do I mention this? Because in Peacekeeping missions, if one of the sides involved in the war attacks the Peacekeeper repeatedly, they get warned and if they persist, they get bombed. I've warned you before to stop. Similarly, if you disturb the peace continually, and persistently attack me and those who suport me, you will also suffer the consequences.

Violence against women is truly disgusting. I never engage in that sort of cowardly and low-level attack. If a man has no choice but to fight, it should be against another man, not a boy or a woman. However, for you to suggest that makes me wonder about your character, your upbringing, and your eduction. Perhaps that is why you are single... I think you may still be a boy, and so are unsure of how to handle this situation...you have to be brave here on the website in front of everyone, but if you ever find yourself in front of me, you would never have the courage to say anything...you might even have a little "accident" before reaching the toilet.

Enjoy your fantasy world, with your imaginary friends and your right hand. The only way a woman would be with if is if you pay her, and even then you would have to pay her at least six-figures. If I ever worked in a club, I would be the boucer that kicks trash like you to the curb so that the rest of the club can enjoy their time as normal, kind-hearted people.

cloudrain200,

How can I answer your questions when they are not logical? All of your agruments have no basis and follow no logical pattern, except to try and attack me. Please stop having temper tantrums. I already explained the situation clearly...and some people have very sensitive egos, which resulted in attacks based on anger and fear. Even afterwards, I sued for peace and people still continue to attack. Is this the mark of your education? Where were you educated?

I am not interested in seeing the psychiatrist that you are seeing for treatment of your psychological issues. Many patients with psychological problems have inflated images ofthemselves, sensitive egos, and do not follow the normal logic of the rational world, reminding me of you as I read your replies. Several times I offered to move past this conflict and evolve into more civilized discussions, yet you chose to continue assaulting. I suspect that if you continue to attack, you may have a narcissitic personality disorder or perhaps even a borderline personality disorder. I really cannot argue with or reply to questions from someone who has mental disorders, but I can refer you to treatment provided by several of my colleagues at the Montreal Neurological Institute or the Royal Ottawa Hospital. If you are too shy to ask, you can send me a private e-mail and I will be more than happy to arrange that you get the help you need.

Sweetheart_X,

My education is unquestionable - twice as good as yours if no better. I don't have a formal diploma but I communicate nicely (that you agreed) with any kind of people including you. I can make my ponit cross without dotting the teeth.

You have no idea whom I am and I have no intention to brag. To give you some sense of comfort, I have never boxed anyone in my life though I am very well trained. A crap like you doesn't even deserve a punch from a man - disappointed? Then you may get some from your male language tutors such as m.chapulin.

Your very good logic (from your PhD of University of North West Territories) concluded that I am a child - Excellent!

No wonder you are still stuck in the petite poulet de chine. Then you found yourself not satisfied that eluded your dreams of sticking your right or left hand in the air and then blaming your lovely wife ... who pointed to Sinoquebec...then you got stuck on this website -- I used your PHD logic, buddy.

Sweetheart_X,

Before you get angry again, please accept my congratulations first -- you have accomplished the goal of language-exchange, for better for worse.

I am also offering you a cease fire here. Let the readers reflect if you so desire.
