If you drive you don't have to stop at Perch, which is more expensive(100$above), I slept where close to National park(maybe the one you call bird island). there deserves you 2 to 3 hours I think early morning is better. Under the sunshine, should look better.
If you can get up earlier like 4:30, the dawn is beyond words.
