And according to my experience, dentist has a big flexibility on fees although there is a Dental Fee Guides: A fee guide that is published by the Dental association of each province. summarizing the recommended charges for each dental procedure. Guides are updated annually to account for inflation and other factors..

I got those information from my insurance company, I have an on-line account, so I can check the detail information from the website of the inssurance company.
Actually, the dentist will only write down some numbers, I know the names correspond to those numbers through the claim result provided by my inssurance company.

Hi, If you have time, you can go to McGill dental student clinic. Root canal therapy can be accepted as limited treatment. That means you can have root canal treatment done there without being a regular patient there. The price for the treatment depends on the number of canals. Some teeth have one canal, while some may have up to four canals. If your tooth has one canal, the price will be under 200 dollars. If your tooth have four canals, it will be between 350 to 400 dollars.
