I agree with astudent, I have the same feeling. I still want to go back to China though I have both professional and education experience here. I do not have a feeling of home here.
one question: what is the usage of Canadian passport anyway. I even hesitate to apply for it now.

It's different in German and in Canada. In German, you are a foreigner. In Canada, you are or you can become a citizen.
In China, you can also be a foreigner in other cities other than your hometown. Feeling of home is from how you integrate yourself into the local society where you live.作者: tormon 时间: 2002-5-7 15:42
I could not agree with you. for my experience:
first, even you are a citizen, you still a 'foreigner' second, even you do not have the communication problem, (I used to work on the sales team of a large company) but I do not think I can accept the local culture since I immigrate at the age of the adult.作者: Waaaaa 时间: 2002-5-8 14:14
I have lived in many places in China. In some cities, I never had feeling of home. In China communication problems exist too. From North to South, there are hundreds of different dialect. I believe in any countries, it is the same.
Canada is an immigration country. People are from all over the world. Other people from Africa, Europe, Arabic countries or South America are the same as you. Most of them have communication problems too. Feeling of home depends on ourselves. You think you are one of them, then you are. It has nothing to do with Chinese or Arabic. 在哪里发展有点像找对象那样，经常要凭感觉。你自认为语言及文化交流没问题（或基本没问题），而且学习、工作环境对你有长期的吸引力，生活有乐趣你就留下。如果经过一段时间的适应期还总感到别扭，总觉得没有国内自在，那很可能说明国内环境更适合你，你还是考虑回归为妙。不必因为顾虑面子等方面的因素而却步。
但在这个问题上需要有点预见性，还得有计划——毕竟时光宝贵，经不起耗。一着不慎，后悔莫迭。劝君从长计议。
