I wonder if you could help me with this question?
Up to 2006 my RRSP deduction limit is 2990 CAD which was stated on my 2005 income tax assessment and I have 0 unused RRSP contribution for deduction.
1. Can I contibute RRSP 4990 CAD before 1st of March 2007 without penalty?
2. Should I use 2990 or 4990 to reduse my taxable income?

1. No. no penalty if your over-contribution is less than $2000.

2. $2990. You can't claim over your allowable contribution limit.
