The Visa Expiration date has nothing to do with how long you can stay in Canada.
When your Mom arrives Vancouver Customs, Immigrant officer will stamp a date on her Visa as her arriving date. Most of the time, the officer will not specify a returning date. In this case, the visitor can stay in Canada for 6 months maximum by law.
So usually, your Mom's stay in Canda should be calculated as from the date she arrives Vancouver until 6 monthes.

Just a reminder, again this is not about Visa expiration date. It is legally stay period in Canada. Don't mix up two different things.
Most visitors are allowed to stay in Canada for no more than six months but, in some cases, visitors can stay longer. The date that you must leave Canada will be stamped in your passport."
