Quite insightful, but also Han supremacist.
according to the article, the central issue in solving the Tibet predicament is to change the makeup of the population, mainly by Han immigration, as what's been done in Uigur region. this provokes a lot of hatred among the locals and sets a time bomb. right now, the central control over Tibet and Uigur region is still firm and stable. but one day, which may not be far, when change happens in china, Tibet and the Muslim Uigur land will almost surely pursue independence, inner Mongolia might have trouble, because the Han people have been so much hated. even if china peacefully becomes democracy and federalism, and offers real autonomy to these two regions, they will still go for indepedence. if the Han nationalism is still strong by that time, which will be probably the case, these regions will be made another Chechenia. |
