you missed the point, whether 10X5=50 or not is irrelevent

the important thing is T4, if you received a T4 slip, means you are on payroll, your employer will report your income to CRA, therefore CRA will expect something from you.

most of times, 10X5 < 50, because tax withheld and certain deductions(i.e. CPP,EI), but sometimes you can ask your employer not to withhold any taxes, especially when an employer is not equiped with a payroll department and doesn't want to pay for payroll services, this doesn't mean he will not report it to CRA(very likely though).

sometimes, you should be careful even without a T4, if i worked as a baysitter, i will not get a T4, and i get a 10X5=50 cheque, my employer maybe report this because she needs some deduction on her end, the hint is if I give my SIN or not.

i think i confused you more.

So I have a question to 红星闪闪:

If like what you said," i.e. if your rate is 10/hr, and worked 5 hrs, if the pay cheque says 50$,"

with that situation, how to report tax? Thanks so lot. I am very apprecite if you can answer me.
