You can check the receipt the dentist gave you to find out the details of the charges.

I just did my teeth cleaning. The total is 151$ with a breakdown of 26$ for oral exam, 59$ for polishing of permanent dent and 66$ for periodontal scaling.

If there was Xray taken in your case, you will pay a bit more for the Xray charges.

By the way, the tooth removal you meant, is it for wisdom tooth? If you need a 60 minutes or longer appointment and the dentist can give it to you the appointment the week after, probably he is not too busy... But I don't know the dentist you went to.
