The new houses here should have much less chemical toxic than those in China. But if you still have this concern, give you some suggestions:

1, If you have central air exchange system, should turn it on all the time, 24/7.
2, if you don't have air exchange system, open windowns all the time, but at this time of the year, too cold to do that.....and you will pay a lot on eletricity for the lost heating.
3, Recommend you a machine: Austin healthmate plus air purifier, made in USA, has HEPA filter and charcoal to purify formaldehyde and other chemical toxic. Though I have central air exchange system at home, I still bought one in last Oct, shipped free from the manufacturer. You can order it via phone. Very efficient but can't use it in the night as it is too noisy compared to the air exchange system.

Note that, not all the air purifiers clean formaldehyde and other hazardous chemical gas, regardless the price. The Austin one is so far I found the best for cleaning formaldehyde and chemical toxic.
