Do you know the timing belt in nissan maxima? From which year, nissan maxima use timing chain instead of timing belt? I know that nissan altima used timing chain instead of timing belt, is it true? Thanks.

Before 91, it uses Belt.
Model year of 92 uses Belt and Chain
Model year of 93~94, Double over head cam uses chain, single over
head cam uses belt. Check the stamp on your engine, see which kind
of Cam.
95 and after uses chain.

All Altima use chain as well as its precedent Nissan Stanza.

Hi, Doncherry, thank you very much. I wonder if Toyota camry has belt/chain for timing. I paln to buy a nissan maxim or toyota camry, which one do you recommend? The choice is V4 or V6 camry, or nissan maxim. Since the timing belt changes every 100k. The maintaince fee is quite high if a car comes with timing belt. I want to avoid it. By the way, do you need change timing chain in nissan and toyota models? Thanks again.

Timing chain will last for ever in most cases.
The maxim will give  you more push when accelating
and more quiet than camry even when they are all V6,
and it is cheaper. for quality stand point of view, they
are same. Maxim is a well built car.

Sounds like you are looking for a very old car. If so, make
sure the timing belt already changed. $200 for changing
timing belt is not that much, it is not big issue at most case.
