Does anyone who got landed recently (either from the Airport or at the border-crossing by land) could share his experience on the process for obtaining the Maple leaf PR card?

1. Do they require a recent photo, or they could use the photo scanned in the CIC system when the applicant sent in the original package?

2. Do they require the $50 fee, or that fee is waived for new immigrant for the initial landing?

Any info is greatly appreciated.  Thanks a lot.
