Forget about it. If you are a new leasee (tenent), and you were told the rent of last tenent (lowest rent of past 12 month actualy), you basicly have two choices, agree or not agree (to take or not take the apartment).
If you were not told the previous rent before you sign the lease, you can choice to take the apartment but appeal for a reasonable rent increase because the landlord did not provide full information or even he was cheating. Note in that case, you have to appeal within certain deadline (14 days as i remember).

今天看我们的LEASE时候忽然发现前一位房客月租是$408,到我们这公司把墙刷一遍再铺上新地板(也许只是打磨了一下也说不好...) 就收月租$500,涨了25%啊!!? |
