Read ShenYJ's article. The argument is quite interesting. I quite agree that this Lao Bai Jin company has used a general contemporary Chinese mentality:the Chinese world is lubricated heavily by giving gifts at all levels. What is more important and significant is that: this company is making this mentality worse and it is turning something non basic, non essential to life and health into somthing psychological and poisoneous.
This Chiese mentality: poor Chinese people in China, espeically those older parents and their children. Our glorious Chinese tradition is to pay the altimost respect to our parents & grand parents. The parents love to be spoilt and love to be given gifts at birth days and new years. Children, in China or overseas, they are pushed to give gifts to their parents and other friends. If you don't bring somthing good, you are mean and you are not respecting( Xiao Jin) your parents. So there you go, Lao Huang Jin & Lao Bai Jin. I agree to ShenYJ that our life and health doesn't really need those things. What we need really is the sun, good water and balanced food, plus a good mentality about life and certain physical excercises. Look at Zhuan Zi and Lao Zi, they didn'y have any of these rubish, they lived a good, healthy and wise life. Chinese are a nation with wisdom, but this wisdom has been lost so horribly and our people has to depend on what they hear and what they are told. It is very sad.
We should always remember that life that is given by God can live quite healthily by itself( except abnormal situations). We just have to have knowledge about our bodies and how the bodies function. I remember very well that back in China, people use antibiotics abusively. My niece, whenever she gets a fever, her doctor mother brings her to her hospital and give her injections of antibiotics in order that she recovers faster to return to school. This year, one girl died of the abusive usage of antibiotics and then there goes some regulation about using the antibiotics.
So I am thinking, to what extent we should ask help from the medicines, not talking about those usless Lao Huang Jin & Lao Bai Jin. It is a question that doctors ask themselves( if they are seriously treating their patients rather than being a merchant busying themselves selling whatever is paying them the highest commission--Doctors in China are doing it ) and it is also a question that we should ask ourselves as well for our own sake. If each of us is responsible for our own lives and if each of us a wise, we should be our own doctors first. We should consult our master Lao Zi and Zhuang Zi and other wisemen for a healthy life. Some people may say that they are only philosophers, not doctors or whatever, but, if we know nothing about philosophy ( which is the great study of life itself ), we can not live well. We will be foolish, lost and scared and we will be used and controled by people who make money out of maybe nothing at all.
We love our parents and relatives and friends. We Chinese are kind and passionate and like to look after their families and friends( mostly only). I hope that we love with reasons and wisedom, not with those empty meaningless stuff like a fool who plug his ears while stealing bells. Sometimes I feel that Chinese ( in China, because of understandable factors, etc.) are becoming empty, lost and quite foolish.
I wish that generations after, we still remember Lao Zi and Zhuang Zi and other great and wise people in the history. I wish that they are not living only in the books for Children in China and here. I wish that at least Chinese people here can readjust the value sustem and pick up the real good stuff from our culture.
I am happy that ShenYJ shares his/her thoughts with us. Thanks. |
