Hello everybody,

My relative will give a used car from the U.S. I don't know how about canadian import tax. Since I am new immigrant, during one year I can import my personal stuffs for tax exemption. Please advise me if this car belongs to this tax exemption.

Hi,
   I happened to have the same experience before.just little difference.
   based on my knowledge, if at first time,you land at canada.you did not put the car on the "goods to follow list"
you will not get the exmption for the tax.you have to pay import tax,which is big amount.same as the value of car.
also. you cost and energy for importing a car is also sth.
