EMAIL:llbbhhll@hotmail.com
Situation 6 - More than 3 months in Québec and less than 3 months in another Province
NOTE: this category is for students who do not have a CSQ (Certificat de séléction du Québec)
Since landing in Canada student has resided in Québec for at least 3 months and has not resided more than 3 months in another province. (For instance, a student may land in Canada and live in another province. Usually on the landing paper the place of landing is indicated. If for instance it is Toronto on May 1, 2000 to be eligible the student must have a Québec lease covering the period August 1, 2000 and following.)
Required documents (2):
IMM1000
Proof of residence in Québec: tax assessment OR letter from landlord OR lease
NOTE:
IMM1000 is needed to show date of entry to Canada.
Proof of residence in Québec must be within 3 months of the landing date, otherwise the student is not eligible under this category. Student does not have to fill in address of parent's or sponsor. This section can be left blank.
Situation 6
If Step 1 and Step 2 are both OK, the student's application is accepted:
Step 1:
-Take the IMM 1000 form.
-Write down the landing date found in Box #45.
-Then write down the start date of the student's lease.
(If there are no more than 3 months between these two dates, then Step 1 is OK.)
Example A: IMM landing date = Jan 1, 1999; Lease start date = March 1, 1999.
This is OK since the time between the two dates is only 2 months.
Example B: IMM landing date = Jan 1, 1999; Lease start date = April 2, 1999.
This is NOT OK since the time between the two dates is 3 months and 1 day.
Step 2:
-Add three months to the start date of the student's lease.
(If the student signs the "Attestation of Residency in Quebec" on or after this date then Step 2 is OK.)
Example C: Lease start date = March 1, 1999; Attestation date is June 1, 1999.
This is OK since the student applied 3 months after the start of his lease.
Example D: Lease start date = March 1, 1999; Attestation date is May 25, 1999.
This is NOT OK since the student applied fewer than 3 months after the start of their lease.
If Step 1 and Step 2 are both OK, the student's application is accepted.
If Step 1 is OK but Step 2 is not OK, we must hold the file until the 3 months have passed, then stamp the file "Accepted" with the date.
