我1月30日考的TELP，很多以外。

I took this TELP on Jan 30th. But till today I just got my score record. So dissapointed.

1/ the Oral exam is not based on your truely communication profeciency. they access your ability not objectively. It just last 5 mins longer. And I truely astonished by McGill's mark. I did 3 years' graduate program in English, and all seminars and Thesis and graduate presentation were totally in English, and I got A -level in my thesis in Germany, But the examiner give me a C-Band in TELP. So simply questions and just 5 mininutes, If my level is C, and I think he must be from a non-English speaking country.

2/ in 2001 I took TOFEL, and I got 4.0 at the part of TWE. today I saw this part is also C. they made many marks on my score record. Maybe this part they did correct.But i think they have  racial discrimination to new immigrate. Because I wrote that I was a new immigrant in the 1st essay. and also when I replied the examiner's question at the oral exam.

3/Listening part and reading each part, have just 10 questions, so if you made a mistaken, then 1/10 lost, it is too weighted for each one. not like Tofel.

And I think that Examiner Wong, have racial discrimination on Chinese new immigrants.

At that time,　i THOUGHT THE EXAMINER GOT SATISFIED ON MY ORAL COMMUNICATION.BUT finally just got a C on this part. Because of these 2 mins, I could not finish all the quetions of the grammatical part and leave 3 questions left.

the other 2 parts, reading and grammatical I got B.

康大也一样，一看你不是英语母语,最好也就是3分,还要修英语，多交学费吧.

really?! the guy is my oral examiner. it took me almost 10 mins, and surely i lost 5 mins in writing. but finally, he gave me A for spoken part, so not too bad... maybe now mcgill has higher request on english

You made too much mistakes in this thread, I can't believe so called "A something".

I do believe you were lucky at that time.

I think now this case did not mean they imporve requirement on English, but their english certificate program are short of students. For them, the first purpose is to make money.

Now I am thinking which exam fits me very well.

Maybe TOFEL or IELTS.

U know, long time not prepared TOFEL, it is also tough for me.


But I will not take that McGill english certificate program. Why should pay money to them?

I disagree that person's comments, I did LINC test at Toronto at the 2nd week after my arrival, and I got  LINC 8. They YMCA recommended me to go to take ELT, or go directly to job seeking.
