LEAP FROG ITINERARY





Aug 21Day 1: Vancouver to Golden



VANCOUVER  HOSTEL PICKUPS

Meet & Greet: @ Jericho Beach



HWY 1: We head east through the spectacular Fraser Valley on the Trans Canada Highway.

Bridal Veil Falls: What a way to start the tour! These falls are straight out of a painting!

Hope: Dubbed, “The Gateway to Holiday land” we hit this mountain town for road-trip supplies.

Coquihalla Hwy: We will ascend almost 1000m through the Coast Mountains into the interior plateau of BC.

Kamloops: A lunch stop in the interior’s second largest city.

HI Squilax (pick-up/drop-off)

Shuswap Lake: Scenic Lake views from BC’s holiday region.

“Hillbilly” Go-carting: Think you know carting?? See how the locals do it!

Giant Cedars Boardwalk: Tramp through an old-growth cedar grove in Revelstoke National Park.

Rogers Pass & Glacier National Park: Grizzly bears and Avalanches… need we say more?

Golden: Welcome to Kicking Horse Country! Rest up in the Beautiful Kicking Horse Lodge…we’re only getting’ started!



Aug 22 Day 2: Golden to Banff



Welcome to the Rocky Mountains!!

Yoho National Park: A first nations (Cree) word for”In Awe”.

Emerald Lake: Take a walk around our first glacier fed, glowing green lake.

Natural Bridge: See what two thousand years and a raging river create!

Takkawkaw Falls (seasonal): The second highest waterfall in Western Canada explodes from the mountain side. “It is wonderful!”

Lake Louise: Take some time to explore the most popular spot in the Rockies.

Banff: The Heart of the National Park, this is the hub for our Rockies adventure.

                     



Aug 23 Day 3: Banff Area Tour



Banff Hoodoos: See the legendary land formations overlooking the Bow Valley and magnificent Mount Rundle.

Lake Minnewanka loop: Hike through alpine terrain with views of Cascade Mountain.

Johnston Canyon: Traverse a suspended walkway along the walls of this ancient limestone canyon.

Castle Mountain: This photo op is a crowd pleaser!

Vermillion Lakes Viewpoint: The photo of Banff and Mt. Rundle everyone wants!

Free time: Climb Sulphur Mountain for the panoramic view and soak in Banff’s natural Hot Springs!

Nightlife: The hottest nightlife in the mountains!



Aug 24 Day 4: Free Day in Banff



Hike, explore…it’s your day!



Aug 25 Day 5:  Banff to Athabasca Falls



The Icefield Parkway: The most beautiful stretch of road in the nation. See bears, wolves, elk, caribou, and cougars in their natural environment.

Crowfoot Glacier: This hanging glacier is just a tease for what’s in store for you!

Waterfowl Lake/ Mt. Cephren: One word says it all….WOW!

Mistaya Canyon: Watch the Mistaya River disappear into this limestone wonder.

Big Bend Lookout: Overlooking the Highway, your jaw will drop!

Parker Ridge (seasonal): A viewpoint like no other! Check out the Saskatchewan glacier from 2500m above sea level.

Athabasca falls: Take a walk over to these rumbling falls from our hostel.

Athabasca Falls Wilderness Hostel: Campfires and Starry skies, it’s just us and the bears!



Aug 26 Day 6: Athabasca Falls to Lake Louise (via Jasper)



Medicine Lake: Keep an eye out for Moose!

Maligne Canyon: Take a stroll in this 8000 year old canyon.

Jasper Town site: Explore Jasper for Lunch and see the town.

Goat Viewpoint: Mountain goat spotting on the Athabasca River.

Stutfield: Part of the Columbia Icefield, this glacier hangs almost 1100m

Columbia Icefield: Explore the largest glacier region south of the Arctic Circle! Ride the Snow coach or Hike the Athabasca glacier for spectacular sights!

Saskatchewan River Viewpoint: Inspiring views in every direction.

Peyto Lake: This just may be the best view in the Rockies!

Bow Lake: Stand on the waters edge and take a plunge if you dare!

HI Lake Louise: Recover from visual overload in one of Canada’s finest hostels.



Aug 27 Day 7:  Lake Louise to Banff



Lake Louise Area Hike: Take your time to walk around the brilliant blue lake or hike up to the Teahouse for stunning views and a hot chocolate.

Moraine Lake: “The Valley of the Ten Peaks”and the rock pile viewpoint will overwhelm you.

HI Banff: Unwind and let the last couple of days soak in. Hit the Storm Cellar before letting loose downtown!



Aug 28 Day 8 (you can book hostel night here HI Downtown): Banff to Vancouver



Continental Divide and Yoho Park: Welcome back to beautiful BC! Enjoy the scenery!

Rogers Pass: Experience the history of this spectacular area.

The Last Spike: Learn about Canada’s first trans-continental railway.

Siccamous: Take a break! Have an ice cream.

Kamloops and the Coquihalla: Breathtaking views and wildlife spotting!

Fraser Valley: Almost there!

Vancouver Drop offs: Welcome back to the best city in the west!





Aug 29 Day 9: Vancouver to Whistler



Vancouver Pickups

Meet & Greet: @ Jericho Beach

Lions Gate Bridge (via Stanley park): Cross Vancouver’s trademark suspension bridge after cruising around the perimeter of Canada’s largest urban park.

Cypress Mountain Viewpoint: Look down on Vancouver from high on the North Shore.

Shannon Falls: See the country’s 3rd highest falls

Stawamus Chief: Hike through coastal rainforest to this climbing mecca. Spot the climbers on this 655m granite monolith.

Whistler Hostel: Relax, unwind, head to the lake for a swim, plan your Whistler adventure.

Whistler Nightlife: This town is renowned for its wild nights, rip it up!



Aug 30 Day 10: Whistler to Vancouver



Free Day in Whistler: Head up the Whistler gondola for some epic mountain biking or breathtaking hiking. Cruise the valley trail, go Zip-trekking, ride ATV’s… Your options are endless!

Depart for Vancouver 4pm

Brandywine Falls: These falls fall into a gorgeous brimstone canyon.

Sea to Sky Highway: Your jaw will drop when you wind along this cliff side highway.

Brittania Beach: Take a look around this historic mining community

Vancouver Drop offs: Welcome back!

Sept 2 Day 14: Vancouver to Tofino



Vancouver Pickups

Meet & greet: @ Jericho Beach

Horseshoe Bay: Vancouver’s northern ferry terminal, enjoy a scenic journey across the Georgia Straight to Vancouver Island.

Little Qualicum Falls: Take a short walk through Arbutus trees to the falls.

Port Alberni: This port city is tucked 40km inland from the Pacific Ocean.

Sproat Lake: Take a dip and check out ancient rock carvings and the worlds largest fire fighting aircraft; The Mars Water Bomber.

Pacific Rim National Park Reserve: Canada’s first coastal marine reserve.

Wikaninnish Beach: Explore the rugged southern tip of Long Beach and experience the real west coast!

Tofino:  Take time to look around Canada’s surf and ecotourism capital.This seaside fishing village is a must see!



Sept 3 Day 15: Tofino to Victoria



Tofino Activity (morning): Go sea kayaking, surfing, or bear watching by zodiac.

Radar Hill: A spectacular view of Clayoquot Sound and the Esowista Peninsula.

Schooner Cove & Long Beach: Hike through coastal rainforest to the magnificent 11km Long Beach

Cathedral Grove: Walk in one of the last old growth stands of Douglas fir and Western Red Cedar… impressive!

Chemainus: See the Chemainus murals in this cute lumber town.

Victoria: The provincial capital if full of things to see and do. Check out the night lights of Parliament and hit the town!



Sept 4 Day 16(you can book hostel night here HI Downtown): Victoria to Vancouver



Free Day Victoria: Take the day to go killer whale watching, see the BC museum, tour the parliament buildings, or visit the famous Butchart Gardens.

Depart for Schwartz Bay 330pm: Drive to the islands southern ferry terminal.

Scenic Ferry Ride: Get out on the ferry deck and enjoy the views of the Gulf Islands on our journey home.
