we really recommend the place.
Owner Kazu, his wife Yuko and one of his friend run the little place.

Kazu is very experienced chef who worked at a french restaurant "Toquè" in Montreal for five years and "Morimoto" in New york after working at a high end Japanese restaurant in Japan.  and he has real passion for cooking.  He is friendly too.

Foods are authentic! and price is not expensive. As you know many japanese restaurant in Montreal own and run by non-japanese.  As a friend I really wish many people can find real japanese taste.

Ramen noodle is home made.  we had Miso ramen.
I think evening is better because there are more choices if you want to try many things. but lunch is not expensive at all and there are very good too. there is sushi plate too.
There are some drink too. Try Yuzu cocktail.

Home made ice cream is wonderful!!

I hope you who like and know japanese food will love this place.

I tried Kazu Yesterday. The lunch time, they only have 4-5 items to choose.
The noodle is very salty and hard.

The Tuna bowl's taste is OK, but for 17$ + Tax + Tips for lunch, it is too expensive.

I don't recommend this one to anyone.

when my japanese teacher knew I'd like to eat real japanese food but didn't have many places to go [sushi yasu is my regular place for instance], she recommended  Kazu.

it is an izakaya[居酒屋]==> japanese style pub. and it really looks and feels like the izakaya in japan.

they've opened for 3~4 months, and is already a hit.  if you go there for dinner, be prepared to wait in the line. lunch time is less crowded , less people drink at lunch I guess.

although they close at 9:30 [Sunday @ 9pm],  it seemed [to me]Kazu San always had problem close on time. people just keep coming in.

this is the place for people who care about quality more than quantity.

you can google"kazu montreal" to see their menu , and more.

If you don't mind the price and want to have good quality food, I will recommend Jun I for you. Their price for lunch is around $30.

For me, the Tuna bowl is huge, I cannot finish it by myself. For the same price, I can have a good sushi with soup/salad/dessert in the other place. For the balance of food and price, this is not a good selection for me.

Also there has someone waiting outside and you cannot enjoy your food for an hour (I finished it for 15 min). Need to eat as fast-food restaurant. I prefer to have somewhere that can eat slowly and enjoy the environment and service.

Kazu is great! I went there 5 times during one week. Twice for lunch, three times for dinner. Finally there's real authentic j-food in mtl!  Their sea bass is to DIE for!!! At one time, i ordered one first it was unbelievably good, so I ordered another one.

If you are passionate about food and love to eat, you will love this place. If you are short on money, this is not the place for you.
