Hello, my friends:
I want to say something about appartment transfer based on my own experience.
our landlord didn't allow us to transfer because he wanted to increase the rent. Furthermore, he wanted charge me for addition$150 fees for terminate the lease. I went to see Chinese community, MA TAI told me: I am luck enough for only pay $150 and then let me go. some landlords even asked for three months rents. MA TAI also said: the landlord cannot refuse your transfer because you are going to give a Chinese, he can find many many other good reasons. However, I really know it is my rights to transfer my appartment first. Some Canadian friends also encouage me and tell me how to fight with this disguisting landlord. One Canadian friend gave me a formal form for transfering the lease, ( this form you can get from the rental board) after I filled out, the landlord agreed me to terminate the lease without any charge. I am thinking: should I agree? I don't want they increase unreanable amount rents for other people. I know someone may say, it isn't your responsibility. If everyone cares a little more others, these bad landlords have no place to stay!
From this small thing, I really don't feel Chinese community can help poeple in the right way! at least, the Chinese community should encourage poeple to do the right, not only avoid the conflict by paying more money!
We came here and we are Canadian or will be Canadian, we have the equal right as everyone. Don't be affraid when unfair things come out. Stand up and fight for your own rights! |
