Chinese immigrants or French: treated equally?
Test of facts - The Parti Québécois candidate in Rosemont, Jean-François Lisée errs on the evaluation of candidates for immigration to Quebec.
At a press conference held on August 29, Jean-François Lisée announced a measure of PQ to halt the decline of the Francophonie on the island of Montreal. A PQ government would revise the selection process for future immigrants to help those who have French as their mother tongue and language use, rather than those who have knowledge of French or declare as a second language.
Mr. Lisée hopes that the Quebec government request directly to candidates if they "live in French," especially if they use it at home.
He claims that currently, these candidates are treated on an equal footing.
"Right now, if you are a candidate for immigration Shanghai and you declare to have knowledge of French, you are on the same footing as a candidate for immigration Bordeaux declaring a knowledge of French" he said. |
