Based on our experience, 用油的中央取暖 is the cheapest, compare to electricity.

电取暖 is cleaner but most expensive.  May add air-conditioning at same time, if u install centralized system.

thanks for your advice. The oil's price increases really too much in the last years. I just bought three heaters and use them instead of the centralized system now. Do you think it can save some $? I am really poor now.

Prices of oil, gas and electricity are really related.  There are years that price of oil spikes, but overtime, they goes up together.

建议你天热的时候上房顶看下你的保温层!!!!!
) X9 h5 w- J# d) Y- t0 t; G如果是旧的(用的象棉絮一样的东西),建议你更换成新的标准(粉色的)效果会好的多

6 c: i! _- L0 ?- leaks from doors - buy strip to provide better seal, both items from $ store or Canadian Tire
; n, f9 T1 F3 E% P- block outlets - in room(s) that u don't use. Don't forget to turn off temp in those room, else it keep heating system going all night. (make sure that heating is on where water pipes EXISTS, basement included)
-  Roof insulation that RiverChen suggested is correct, for all heating systems.

/ |* r; {- c" _4 p# eIt is know that some driver(s) deliver oil steal them, check oil tank after they fill up.  Check tank from time to time.  If u change to on-call basis, beware that sometimes tank run down quick when weather get cold.  Don't leave your tank almost empty as it accumulates water condensation that block the oil pipe, then u have another problem.

$ x" q9 G$ R0 Y! SU need to budget your heating expense, it's a big household expenditure.  Most likely u'll need 1 extra tank of oil next year as this year is relatively warm.  Get some professional to tell u what kind of heating is more suitable for your house.

Try to report your income tax ONLINE as early as possible, it'll help to get your rebate($) earlier.
