- persons who are outside Québec to hold employment or to perform a contract for a company, business or corporation established in Québec, as well as Canadian government employees posted outside Québec, remain eligible for the Québec Health Insurance Plan, as do their spouse and dependents.
- persons who are in another Canadian province to seek or hold temporary employment or to perform a contract for a company, business or corporation established in Québec remain eligible for the Québec Health Insurance Plan, as do their spouse and dependents, for not more than two consecutive calendar years.
- Québec government employees posted outside Québec and persons who, within the scope of a foreign aid or international cooperation program recognized by the Minister of Health and Social Services, are working abroad as employees of a non-profit organization that has its head office in Canada may, as may their spouse and dependents, be entitled to health-care services insured by the Régie de l’assurance maladie Québec.
Please note
Once every seven years, however, Québec residents who are eligible for the Québec Health Insurance Plan may spend more than 183 days (up to 12 months) outside Québec without losing their entitlement to services insured under the plan. It is preferable to notify the Régie before leaving Québec. |
