thank you G sir. and you have a good idea. if i really step into this area i should do it. in fact we would make it together with other friends.
now my feeling is like puchasing a car or making girlfrines. looks good and i want toknow more. one thing to me si that i have to wait a moment. anyway, i really apreciate there are some friends who work in htis area.
by the way Mr G, have you learn about prof. Halley who is charge of bioinformatics from computer science school?

to me i still have one term to chose the option, and i probably select bioinformatic course this fall. there is a bioinformetics center at mcgill and it is composed fo biology and computer science... in biology department there is also bioinformatics. maybe you point that? i have no idea about them.
what about you right now?

no, because i have not very strong pharmacy background and i have more interest in cs.
if you like you can check biology department at mcgill.

hi, there,
  Nice to see so many fans for bioinformatics. I WAS interested in bioinformatics when I came to McGill for computer science study in master's level. Now a year passed, I gave up more efforts in this fields. I have taken 2 courses in this field, one is 5- level and the other is 7- level. The course is really good, but I should admit that taking these course is really painful for me.    I only have background of CS.
   So here is some suggestions if you are enrolled to CS program in McGill:
  If you only have background of CS, try your best to have basic knowlodge of molecular biology and much more. You should have strong knowledge on algorithms, such as computational complexity, probabilistic analysis, graph theory, etc. or you will be dead!!!
  If you only have background on medical, biology, you might try to enroll the related department, such as biology, biomedical engineering, or .... there exist profs that are focusing on bioinformatics. You will definitely fee better. If you want to enroll the program of CS, you are already dead!!!
   Any problem, welcome to discuss, my opinion might be not thorough in your view.

Mike Hallett, the one of leaders of bioinformatics center of McGill, also prof of dept of CS. is very busy, he might not need any more graduate students to enroll his program.

To my knowledge, 3-4 graduate students (with 2 Ph.D) from dept of math, 5-7 grad from dept. of biomedical engineering, about 10 from CS (both under and graduate level), maybe some from dept of biology.  Research from CS mainly focus on algorithms and database approach - Biopath, proteomics, SNPs, gene finding,etc. database and data mining design. too many topics.
The bioinformatics center of McGill is rich in grand, enough funds, but lack of professor and researcher. This is a potential field if you feel that you are smart and assidulous.
BTW, you should pursuit a Ph.D in this field, a master's degree might not demonstrate you potential and capability.
