try allostop. it is kind of service providing you information to find a ride between most biggest cities. You just need to share gas with other passengers. Their office is on St-Denis. you need to pay 10$ something for registering 1 year. you may pay 20-30$ something for the ride from montreal to toronoto.

oops. I checked their website. allostop's office in ontario was just closed. but they still open for the cities within Quebec province.
