请问寡妇金的有关问题

我的一个朋友50来岁,移民加拿大才两年,她老公因病快不行了,她很为自己今后的生活耽心。听说老公死后女方可以领取一份政府救急金(俗称寡妇金),请好心人指点是否真有其事,如何办理,每月大概有多少钱?谢谢!

她不够格领寡妇金。

就算她是低收入者,可是
1)她的先生不是领 GIS 的人;
2)她不是 60-64 岁的人;
3)她在加拿大未住满10年;
她还是没有资格领取寡妇金的。

The Allowance and the Allowance for the Survivor
Qualifying for the Allowance or the Allowance for the survivor

You may qualify for the Allowance if you have a low income and your spouse or common-law partner receives or is eligible for the Guaranteed Income Supplement.

You may qualify for the Allowance for the survivor if your spouse or common-law partner has died, andyou have not remarried or entered into a new common-law relationship for more than 12 months. In the case of same-sex couples, you may qualify for the Allowance for the survivor if your partner died on or after January 1, 1998, and you have not remarried or entered into a new common-law relationship for more than 12 months.

In addition, to qualify for the Allowance or the Allowance for the survivor, you must:

  • be 60 to 64 years old;

  • be a Canadian citizen or legal resident when your benefit is approved (or have been one when you last lived in Canada); and
  • have lived in Canada for at least 10 years after turning 18; and
  • have an annual income below the prescribed limit (if applying for the Allowance, both you and your spouse's or common-law partner's combined incomes must be below the prescribed limit. Please refer to the following Tables)
To receive the Allowance, you must not be divorced or voluntarily separated from your spouse or common-law partner for more than three months.
If you have not lived in Canada for at least 10 years since you turned 18, but have lived or worked in a country that has an international social security agreement with Canada, you may still qualify. Call us for more information.

她语言不通,没有工作,像她这样可怜的女人想在加拿大(蒙特利尔)生活下去,还有没有路可走?政府一点也不管么?请指教。

如果她先生是加拿大公民而且有正常工作并交纳QPP(也就是我们所说的养老保险)的话,她是可以按月领取她先生的退休金的,这个叫做Surviving spouse’s pension .不过不是全额的,按一定的比例,一直到她65岁.具体可以看这个网站:http://www.deces.info.gouv.qc.ca/en/index.asp

另外如果她先生过世了,她实在找不到工作,可以去报读有补助的语言班,应该可以拿到一些生活补助的.生活不会有问题.
或者有什么问题可以发悄悄话问我.

如果什么活路都没有,存款低于一定的数额(具体多少不知道),那就能申请政府救济金,还是能活下去的。
