expand the chinese passport

My chinese passport will be expired on next month, but I am applying to the Canadian citizenship, and I will become the Canadian after a few monthes. During these period, I do not plan to leave Canada. So, I do not want to expand my passport, it is possible? When I takes the test for the Canadian citizenship, my chinese passport could be expired?
If someone knows it, please tell me. Thanks.

Hi,
I am glad to know you. I think that you do not need to expand your passport if you come back before it is not expried.
