如果你只顾取景对焦拍街景，可能你的鞋跟已踩在了美国境内还全然不知 ...

大约半年前，在CBC Radio听到一个报道，第二天在CBC TV的新闻也看到，说是美国要收紧边境检查。这引起了魁省一个边境小镇居民的强烈不满，他们说这将打乱他们的生活。如果想进餐馆吃饭，但街对面的停车位因属美国而不能过去parking，这可不是他们所愿意的。“难道要在这建柏林墙吗?”，我在电视画面上看到一位gentleman气愤地问到。

这引发了我一定要去这小镇看看的念头。终于在9月中的一个周末，我到了这小镇的街上走了走。


我在街口看到了这块告示，在我身后街边加拿大一侧，加拿大海关也竖有一块类似的牌子。Oh，原来我已进美国转了一圈了。刚才在两个路口路过的那个小"加油站"原来是海关呢。

不需任何证件，如果你不打算真正进入美国的话。我那天是下午去到那里，时间稍匆忙，只能得到一个表面的印象。这些小地方的边境关卡给我的感觉还是很轻松的，只有一个officer，还过去聊了几句。在两边的关卡之间的地段，虽然踩了线，但并没有入境美国。

不过，在HWY15南端的Lacolle或是千岛湖那样的繁忙边境关卡，那里则容不得这样的中间地段。

请问到这一小镇需要什么permit吗?是否象到加拿大的其它地区一样无需特别要求? 谢谢!

对的，正是那地方，HWY55边境检查站前那出口。Haskell Free Library & Opera House在Rock Island。

The name of this town is Stanstead, built with three villages: Rock Island, Stanstead Plain and Beebe Plain, situated at the southern end of HWY 55, about 160km from Montreal.

It is a good idea to have a cup of coffee in a bar there.

I got it, thanks a lot LZ, I will invite some friends to go together to visit the interesting town in a weekend.
