Want to take my small dog to the U.S. for a couple of days during the family vacation, but not sure the requirements under each of country's customs.

We plan to cross into U.S.at the NYC/Plattsburgh border and come back into Canada via the same border. Which documents do I need to pass U.S. custom and will I have an issue when I return Canada?
