前天开家长会， 校长让我签授权书， 说要帮我从校外找一些Help. 没多想就同意了（小孩上课注意力不集中， 不听话， 语言不好）。今天学校通知我， 要把我孩子（5岁）送Special school， 不知怎么办。不想送， 担心他在Special school里就再也跟不上其他同龄小孩。 急， 请各位帮忙出处主意， 谢谢了先。

真的很替你担心呢！但请别太着急，事情总有解决的办法。你试着约校长和孩子的带班老师谈话，请他们告诉你他们送孩子去特殊学校的理由，实在不行你也可以请医生开出证明，证明你孩子智力心理与正常小孩无异。重要的是你必需告诉他们移民家庭在家通常都用本国语言，所以孩子的在课堂上的语言能力会慢于本地小孩，请他们给多些时间你的孩子。当然，也建议你多带孩子找小朋友聊天游戏，培养孩子开朗积极的个性对孩子的成长大有益处。

其实不用太担心！

所谓 Special School， 是给调皮的小孩，或是语言跟不上的小孩另一个小空间，有专门的老师进行辅导。对你的小孩没有坏处的。

因为小孩有时候在课堂上太调皮，会影响课堂教学，会使所有的孩子都无法上好课。把调皮的孩子隔开了，有利于大班的教学。再说，被隔开的小孩是进行小班教学，小孩反而会比较容易学乖的。

问题是：你应该清楚地了解你的孩子，看看他是不是有小儿多动症，如果不是因为疾病而引起的调皮则不需要太担心，只是要加强对孩子的正面引导，告诉他应该怎样做才是个乖孩子。

但是如果是有小儿多动症的话，就不要掉以轻心了，要抓紧治疗。

如果仅仅是因为语言问题，那更没有必要担心了！Special School 就更适合他。很多新移民的孩子都有上“欢迎班”的经历。

我认为不是一码事。如果是前者那要考虑一下。

5岁小孩上小学了？如果是， 家长太性急了，小孩太小是很难坐得住的，我认识太多较早上学的小孩（刚好6岁或不足6岁，特别是男孩子），因为坐不住常被老师批评，后来就成习惯了，学习不好，纪律也不好。 我的建议是，不妨去special school, 反正还小，就当再上一年幼儿园， 明年再上一年级，到时家长就不用操心了。

这边都是5岁上小学,不过是学前班。

                  National Science and Technology Week

   (Grades 9 and up)

     October 21 and 22, 2008     
Enjoy one of the Museum’s exciting lectures celebrating science and technology in Canada. The perfect opportunity for students in grades 9 and up to explore potential careers in Science and to supplement the Science curricula! (The full schedule will be available online in September 2008.) While at the Museum, take part in the “Science Trail Challenge,” a scavenger hunt that tests students’ knowledge of Canadian inventions and innovations.             
Curriculum Days

   (Grades 1 to 6)

     November 4-7, 12-14, 18-21, 2008;
    March 31 to April 3, April 7-9, 2009.
Curriculum Days workshops complement and extend our regular school programs and are the perfect way to introduce or review your science units. Students take part in two 45-minute hands-on workshops geared specifically to their grade level. Each workshop includes a 15-minute introduction on a specific curriculum topic, followed by 30 minutes of hands-on exploration.                Science and Engineering Olympics

       (Grades 7 to 12)

       February 18, 2009
      Be a part of this fun, hands-on competition designed to promote careers in the various science and engineering disciplines. Students work in teams in one of six events to conceptualize, create, design, build and test their projects, which are then evaluated by a panel of judges.            Engineering Challenge 2009

       (Grades 4 to 6)

With the assistance of an engineer in the classroom, students working collaboratively in teams engage in a problem-solving challenge. Student teams apply engineering principles to design and build a structure which is tested in final competition held at the Museum during "National Engineering Week". 5岁的孩子多动很正常， 我小时候也是这样， 7岁上学的时候还是很多动。长一长就好了。 送到特别学校的话， 生活环境和别的孩子不一样，会对孩子以后的生活有影响。　如果不是特别的需要，　最好不要去。　明年再送孩子上学吧。　在班上年龄小会被这里的小孩欺负，　本来亚洲人个子就小，　发育的也没有他们壮，　年龄大点好。
