According to Montreal police Constable Olivier Lapointe, the accident happened just after 6 p.m. as the police cruiser was responding to a call at the Berri-UQAM metro station. The cruiser, heading east on René-Lévesque Blvd., collided with a car travelling in the opposite direction that was attempting to make a left-hand turn onto St. Urbain St., Lapointe said. It is not known if the cruiser’s lights or sirens had been activated when the crash occurred.
Three police officers and four members of the public were taken to hospital, but none were seriously injured, Lapointe said.
The intersection was still closed to traffic at 8 p.m.
