Most people should be free during Christmas holiday.
For the people on this board who enjoy dancing,
it would be a fine opportunity
to arrange to dance in the same place.
Just on this topic alone, there are over 20 people,
For example,
joinnow911, HappyFun, 789aeb, jammy,
mlz007, Allen-Yu, Blue_Snow , salsalover
al, Aesthetican, Caps Lock, asdfdsa, funnyface
lucyliu2002, Tap, hhocauestc, MSNUSER, peixuan.
I am sure that there are other dance lovers
who are interested but have not spoken out yet.

May I suggest the Christmas party on this Friday, Dec 26,
Or the Chinese new year party by Friend club, Jan 24 ?

There will be a ballroom dance competition on St. Valentine day weekend(Feb 13, 14) in Bonaventure hotel.
Some very good dencers will be there to compete.

Yes, correct.
You can go to the web site to get the phone #
and call the organizer for ticket
or you can go to the hotel anytime
after 3pm on Thursday, Feb 12.
Ask the reception desk where the dance comp takes place.
When you get to that ballroom,
you'll see the organizers and ticket counter
with a seating plan posted next to it.
You can pick your seat and buy the ticket for Saturday.
On Saturday, in exchange for your ticket,
the staff there will stamp on the back of your hand with special ink,
then you can go in and out of the comp all day.
Saturday afternoon is usually for the juvenile
and junior divisions.
Don't be fooled by their age.
They might be young
but a lot of the kids are very good and full of energy.

in this competition last year.

You can go to Friend club's party this Saturday.
There should be a lot of people staying behind to dance
after the variety show finishes at about 9pm.
You can check the posts under
"元宵联欢晚会".
Just in case that the regular tickets are sold out,
you might be able to buy ticket just for the dancing part of the evening,
but you need to confirm that with the organizers.

奋勇前进, rainhorse and others,
Usually for social dances like waltz, foxtrot,chacha, swing and a little discos,
you can go to Friend club's parties.
Although most partygoers are just moderately experienced in dancing,
they are all keen to dance
so it is easy to ask people to dance.
Other good things are that
the cost is relatively low,
the people speak Chinese
and you don't need to go with a partner,
You can look for the party schedule in
local weekly Chinese newspapers.
The next one is February 28.

There are also other social/line dance parties
in the Chinese community.
Among those, the ones organized by Vanier dance club are quite good.
Unfortunately the club only holds about 2 to 3 a year. If I am aware of any in the future,
I'll mention it here.

As for social dance clubs,
there are DoReMi, Le Rendez Vous, Le Dancing, La Bamba, Le Select classique, ... , etc.

For salsa dance clubs,
there are Salsatheque, 649, Cubano, ..., etc.

For disco, try Funkytown.

Whether you can ask strangers to dance or not
depends on the individual club culture.
In general, in salsa clubs,
most of the time, you can ask strangers to dance.
In social dance clubs, it varies greatly.
You usually can do so in DoReMi on Saturdays,
Le Rendez Vous and Le Select classique.
