Like 无涤冷雪 suggested "加拿大本地产的葡萄酒"

1.  "安省大瀑布地区的酒都是很好很有名的~, 喝惯了甜的那个葡萄酒 . . . 就买瓶ice wine" by Inniskillin.

2.  魁省Apple Cider are getting popularity, around or above $20.  u may not find much in local SAQ, look for them in the SAQ in Atwater Market.

3.  If u prefer French wine, suggest Beaujolais, goes well with most Chinese food.  Popular brand ~? Village, white label with sort of a pick/red flower on it.

4.  Vin Maison is not bad for supermarket wine, good for it's current special price @$8.05.  Suggest u stock up at the current price for x'mas, normally u can store it for ~1 year.

5.  Dollar for value for personal use, check out Italian wine (1L for ~$10) and the one suggested by 无涤 - Jackson-Triggs (Shiraz 9.95$, I prefer the Cabernet Shiraz ~$15?)

All the above are personal preference, e.g. 无涤 prefer white and light, I prefer big and bold.  And it is true that if u want good wine, be ready to pay $30+

I like beaujolais's red wine, year 2000 is good.

Year 2000 could be better than other years due to weather/rain/? but it only apply to good wine.  Most regular wine that we buy for less than $20, performance/taste starts to drop after 3 to 5 years, they don't keep.

Once any wine bottles are open, quality of wine deteriorate due to oxidation.  Once over 3rd day, use it for cooking.  

There are all kinds of gadgets in the market to keep wine longer, may help but I suggest u save your money.  Else get your "House" wine in 3 or 4 litre box format, keep for long time after opened.  Once I have a box opened for 6 months.  I believe the 4 litre boxes will go on special in the next few weeks prior to x'mas holiday.

Vin Maison is at same price at Metro + ? this week, pick up a few more if u want.  Since SAQ is closed again, supermarket wine may be sold out, just ask for rain check.

Think about it twice!! One of my majors is Research, first u look at who paid for those research reports. Do u know that liver problem is one of the leading health problems in France! Do u know the amount of money in the wine industry?

Same for "milk is good for calcium", there is still lots of bone problem in NA after all those years that they consumed milk.

As for myself . . . forget what I've said above, have company/friends, good food, another glass of wine, life is beautiful, HA HA!!

If that's what u do, I would suggest u try to figure out a way to "pump" wine into smaller bottle, put the corks on, not more than 1/2" airgap between cork and wine, can store for many more months. Everything needs disinfection if store for long time. Not pour, the key is avoid air/oxidation.

Get 3 or 4 litre boxes, pour whatever u need anytime and can be kept for months. On sales 4 litre ~$30+.

I am getting too lazy now, else could organize a wine making class for those interested.

Believe average prices are lower.

In the old days, they have phone messages that tell u wine prices, not sure now. U are not obliged to buy any wine after tasting. If u buy, ask them about disinfecting bottles, u don't want anything green or pink to grow inside the bottles. CS at the stores are very helpful!

1. When u look at years and regions are related. Certain year could be good for Bordeau, not Loire.

2. For those who like expensive wine, one trick that I read many years ago: - "~~when u have a party, after the 2nd bottle, start to serve cheap wine as human's taste bud can no longer tell the difference ~~" Whenever u find the original info. would be nice to share it here.

3. Food and wine paring is more important, i.e. if u do not pair your wine properly, u could complete spoil the taste of your expensive wine.

4. Even if it is cheap wine, drink it with good friends or an environment that u enjoy, the world is beautiful!

Remember not to drive after drinking and be extra careful when driving during x'mas.

Most French red wine are dry (opposite of sweet).  Beaujolais is "light", Beaujolais Village has a bit more taste.  Both are good with Chinese food per book.  By my standard, both 冰酒 + Iced Cider are un-bearably sweet.

Anyone prefer sweet wine, look for German White wine.  I can't remember how we call them now, there are 2-4 levels of sweetness, ask @ SAQ.
