Recently I want to lease a new car from a dealer. Have invested my credit situation, his finance manager told me that my credit is not enough and they need my spouse's social insurance number (SIN)as well as some information on credit and income. Moreover, they will ask me and my spouse sign on the leasing contract.

I wonder if it is legal by law to gain these privacy information and if it is mandatary for both of us but only for me to sign for making this kind of contract. I think this is my personal purchase, not my family purchase. Therefore I don't want somebody else involved in my leasing responsibility.

Is there anybody who has a good idea to deal with this case? I will greatly appreciate your opinion
