TO IST: Thank you so much for the quick reply. now I understand that if I keep on working untill the employment income accumulated to 4400, there will be zero of contribution for me under condition that I have no other income else, such as the interest income, etc.

I download a calculator(Fast 2004) from the web site .  Have you ever tried it? Is it good?:p

To ist: You are so professional.
If you don't mind please give me further advice: in my case, I was supposed to have totally 15,836 as the L&B for the period of May, 2004 to Aug, 2005. The loan is 7,322 and busary is 8,514  based on my family income in 2003.
Would you help me to calculate up to how much I should earn in order to keep the busary not being dedacted? And will the final busary portion be decided by the end of the year 2004 or end of Aug 2005?
I really appreciate your kind patience and advices.:p

不客气。

1) Loan = 7,322
This is only an initial calculation, you have to add all your actual tuition + fees for 5/2004 to 8/2005. So the actual figure will be more than that, it means the more subjects you study, the more tuition you pay, then the more loan portion you will need to take up.

2) (打工) Employment Income for Jan/2004 to Dec/2004
To play safe, you calculate this way:
Use $5,000 - (any interest income, or other income you may have) = < A >
Then you will be very safe for your own calculation.
If your income from 1/2004 to 12/2004 not more than < A >, you will be safe from deduction.

When your employment income is more than $5,000, the excess portion will be calculate for deduction by using 100%. For example, If you earn $7,000, the first $5,000 will be calculate for contribution based on your family condition,
then $2,000 ($7,000 - $5,000) will be fully deduct from your bursary.

Good luck.

You qualify for the Loans and Bursaries Program if:

  • You are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.

  • You are or are deemed to be residing in Québec at the time of your application.

  • You have been or will be admitted to a designated (recognized) educational institution.

  • You are or are considered a full-time student in a recognized program.

  • You have received financial assistance for less than the maximum number of terms of eligibility.

  • You have not reached the debt limit applicable to your level of education, type of degree or program.

  • You do not have sufficient financial resources to pursue your studies.

1) 我想知到我有 burrsay and loan 吗?

Based on the information above, there is no mention that you can not apply L/B.

2) 我不和他们住在一起,

You need to have your own lease to proof.

I think it is worth to give it a try, there will be no harm to you.

If you like to study, you can try to study in the training first, there is some short course for only 3 to 4 months & no tuition. When you can confirm that you can get B. successfully, then go for university studies.!

Good luck!!

非常感谢,再请问:

Hi, ist: After your kind explaination, I am getting much clearer about the general picture of the L&B policy now, thanks again.
But one more last request : in my case , I took part in the French class (known as COFI) between Apr 03 and Apr 04 which means that I have the other income from the gov. So if I calculate my bursary, should I include the amount of cofi bursary into my other income in the calculation?
再次感谢,祝好人好运!

Yes, you have to include Cofi income. (In your case, from Jan 2004 to Apr 2004)

Total income = employment income + any subsidary income (i.e.Cofi, EI....etc) +
other income (i.e. interest, dividend...etc)

That means all income from Jan to Dec 2004 will be taken into account, except your bursary from AFE. Even when you can get bursary from other source, it is still have to be included as your income.

Good luck to you too.
