In AmEx, there are two kinds of cards: American Express CARD & American Express CREDIT CARD.
For the first kind, you have to pass relatively more strict credit check, eg. they will call your employer to get your income data. This card has NO predefined credit limit! But you have to pay minimum CDN$50 as annual fee. Keep in mind this is the uniqueness of AmEx.
The second kind is regular credit card, some have annual fee, some don't. These cards all have predefined credit limit, based on your financial background. (not sure how they check you, because before I get this card, I already has the first kind of card)
