You may call me stupid, dude, but do you know we haven't used VCR for almost a decade in my city? The reason why I bought a VCR here though I got a DVD already is to watch some of my dance performance and dance teaching material which were recorded while I was a teenager. Buying a VCR really insulted myself as a good user and you just keep on calling me stupy or whatever...
Feel frustrated...oh, my poor entertainment equipments, why you looked so stupid here in Canada??? Be smart and cheer up dude!

To wang8, I admit that you are very smart and you are probably making a quite high salary (90K?). But never be over-confident. Just from this post, I can see that you just have a little bit more knowledge than those who never or seldom spend time on this kind of stuff, but you are not that good as you claimed.
Firstly, you did not give a sound solution as you claimed:"...post your alternatives here, and i will beat yours in terms of cost, quality and time effeciency."
Secondly, you gave a wrong web link at first. You mixed up the VGA card and TV card. I would rather think you did not read the page carefully than you do not undertand the difference. But anyway, you made mistakes.
Thirdly, you finally posted a web link which is related to the topic. However, your post does not give any hint that you have read and understood the stuff on the pages linked.

Don't waste your time here. the multi-system VCR is only used by some professional companies. it's really too expensive!!did you know anyone has a multi-system VCR? no
the only choice is to sell your camera and buy a new one!

tweaty, i will say your post is about 50% right and 50% wrong.
firstly, let me tell you why i said i can beat your idea in terms of cost, effeciency and quality. my idea is that user pc as a resource to convert the ntsc/pal is the easiest way. all you need to do is conect your camcorder to your pc and then tvout it to your tv, at the same time, you can just record the content of the tv using your vcr. in this case, a singlemode tv and a singlemove vcr can handle your job. that article is about how to use tv as a display for the computer, which is very relavent to our discussion. i didn't give you details because you can figure it out by yourself and i assumed you're a smart being.
2) if i tell you i cowrite the second link i posted on this topic, would you believe it? do you want to set up a bet on this?

To be honest, it was my first thought to take advantage of PC to do the job. But I kicked it out at the very first stage. You know why? Because it is not viable for the most people here.

1. Your VGA to PAL and NTSC converter (make it short as VGA/TV card) can only output TV signal, you need to buy other cards like PCTV card to be able to input from your camcorder. Your solution is not complete at all. I won't buy this card just for the purpose in this topic. That's why I said she can have her video transferred to VCD by commercial service. In fact, you can buy the necessary cards to do the VCD by yourself. But personally, I won't choose to do that.
2. Personally, I won't like to take time and risk to make that card. Especially, it says "you have to figure out that part of circuit construction yourself". Would you like to take the risk that the card may not work at all after you spend a lot of private time? Maybe you are a circuit fan, but I am not.
3. It is not viable for the most people to make a card by DIY. Unless you happen to be able to take advantage your working facilities. I am not, are you?
4. You need the application SW to do that job. It is an extra cost or effort to get the SW.

After all, I know people who are already doing the job following my VHS/VCD solution. Concerning myself, I bought a NTSC digital camcorder. Can you tell me if you happen to know any people following or will be following your solution? Will you do it by your solution yourself if you happen to be in this situation? I am confident that the answer is NO, but I won't bet with you. I was trying to help people with viable solutions and I hate wasting my time to fight with you. Let's finish here and no more fight.

终于找到了卖多制式电视机及录象机的商店，就在唐人街牌坊对面，蒙特利尔银行旁边，不过可真要再三考虑一下，虽然店员说他们的东西都比FUTURESHOP便宜，但真的很难比较，因为FUTURESHOP根本没有多制式的TV，VCR，真不知道为何多制式的那么贵，两三倍于NTSC的产品，一部VCR要450，一部27‘TV要950？？？差额都能买一部全新的DIGITAL 8 的CAMCORDER 啦！！！谁有在这间店购物的经历？觉得有点不放心，因为这些电器全部没有明码标价，都是店员口述。 :confused:

如果有电脑的话，花100块左右买个ATI电视卡就好了，支持各种制式。我的摄像机机就是PAL的。

I'm using a labtop with TV-out(S Video interface). Is there a ATI TV card which you mentioned for notebook? It can allow me only watch PAL tape played by my PAL camcorder on my notebook, right? :confused:

我的电脑是台式的，ATI是否有为笔记本配置的卡我不清楚，你可以去有关商店打听一下。但我想应该没有。
