(4)MasterCAM 2D CNC Programming - TECH 0012
The course explains the basic concepts of CAM and 2-axis machining operations such as turning and milling 2-D contours. Lettering, pocketing, drilling, counter-boring and threading are included. The course is designed to provide students with a fundamental knowledge to use MasterCam efficiently. It is delivered in a structured learning environment.
Prerequisite(s): CNC Basic TECH 0071 and CADKey 1 TECH 0181 or equivalent experience
Course Content:
CNC programming fundamentals
Machining fundamentals, selection of cutting tools
MasterCAM environments, SAVE, FILE AND EXIT commands
CAD/CAM programming overview
Basic 2-D geometry construction using POINT, LINE, ARC, CIRCLE, RECTANGLE, CHAMFER, SPLINE, ELLIPSE, AND LETTERS commands
Practice CREATE commands
Modify existing geometry
Apply geometry modification using DELETE, MODIFY, and X-FORM
Create 2-D toolpaths from drawing to part
Toolpath editing " Merge toolpath files
Toolpath editing functions - mirror, rotate, scale, and translate
MasterCAM process and toolpath planning
Prepare process plan sheets
File conversion
Lathe programming, co-ordinate systems, program zero, radius and diameter dimensioning
Turning tools construction and definition
Select correct cutting tools
Construct new tool drawings
Modify existing tool drawings
