朋友,本人既不是CONCORDIA的学生也不是的学生.
我现在MONTREAL的一家公司从事动画软件的开发.
我对上面两所学校都无特殊感情.
我只是作为旁观者去看的.
我使用过GNUTELLA,我很尊重他的作者.我是以北美的方式判断能开发出这样产品的学生绝对是一流的.
而且就我的经验和了解没有哪个渠道说CONCORDIA的CS比MCGILL的好.
只是一直有许多CONCORDIA的中国学生说它的比MCGILL的好.好象还说它的MBA也可和哈佛的媲美.
事实上以前有帖子探讨过CONCORDIA的入学标准偏低.
我认识的几个人改了成绩去申请入CONCORDIA,而且还都成功了.我不认为入学时检查不出假成绩单以后还会再检查.
倒是一些很优秀的国内的朋友被拒绝了.
至于这些是CONCORDIA自己的事与我无关.
我只是客观地评判CONCORDIA与MCGILL的CS.
前面的朋友说他在什么QUEENSLAND上过学,还有在UN工作的LECTURER,不过这与CONCORDIA,MCGILL的CS的水平无关.
如果当初你能选择MCGILL(你去不了是另一会儿事)而你选了CONCORDIA, 我只能说你的判断是错误的.
至于说实用,以前面的发言推断,LASALLE COLLEGE 的CS要更好,因为它的更实用.
至于什么OOP,OOD,J2EE...这些概念谁也比不了大陆的电脑新闻记者.
至于CONCORDIA的CS 的毕业生的就业看看今年的吧不高而且就业的妇女居多!.
那是许多计算机公司为考虑男女比例的结果.

About English proficiency,

There are many Chinese students who got very high score of TOFEL or GRE, but still cannot speak out and lack of proper writing skills.

The reason is, TOFEL/GRE tests more emphasize on grammar, not writing or speaking. In Concordia, they expect graduates have satisfactory writing skills for the sake of "real world training". That is probably why we are still required to take some ESL courses.

Don't feel bad about it, I am sure you will think it's helpful if you took these courses. When I was in Australia, my lecturer once told me, he could tell whether the reports was written by Chinese students or English speaking students, not because their grammar, it's because the way they wrote was simply not the "English way".

However, as you already got very firm grammar basis and training, you can easily catch up. Not like me, I did not study hard when I was in high school, so I am still struggling with grammar sometime.

I am very doubt if we can have such chances to improve our writing skills in the future, I guess, it worth to take these courses.

Sure, I do understand your feeling, if I were you, I would damn this uni too. Some students cheated but got admission, well, don't worry about them, they will pay their price I am sure. I know a person, he cheated when he was applying one uni, and he continued cheating all through his study in that uni, surprisingly, he never got caught! But when he went to the real world, he just cannot keep his job, and is still jobless.

All in all, hope your words can remind some of our Chinese students who ever think about cheating, DON'T DO THAT for whatever reason.

Cheer up man, there's plenty fish in the sea, if Concordia is not suit for you.

To aword and other friends,

what about this suggestion, we just give the facts and do not make any final statement of which one is better? We are all educated, and have the ability to analyze, draw a conclusion. just provide what we know, and let people make the decision where to go.

What do you guys think? Well, I guess not that practical  ;)

I think, I'd better take back my statement in my first post, "CS in Concordia is BETTER" That is wrong. How about this, "CS in Concordia is quite practical and may be helpful when you are in job"?

Anyway, I am sure most of us can get some idea now. this is what I intended.

By the way, to bookwarm, did you notice that at the end of my last post, I wrote

"there's plenty fish in the sea, if Concordia is not suit for you. "

should be "there's plenty fish in the sea, if Concordia is not suitABLE for you. "

Just show you that I am not good at grammar, which always leave me a bunch of errors in my writing. But you won't have this kind of error, so, you will more concern "there's plenty fish in the sea" is not SUITABLE in this contest.

I think if your age is under 25(I want to say under 20), try to enter into the best university. Otherwise, do you really think that it's important to get the best undergraduate education in Canada?

Just do what we need to do! Don't waste time to discuss such a boring question.

It may be better to add "of" after "plenty" and use the plural of "fish", then the sentence turns out to be "there's plenty OF fishES in the sea, if Concordia is not suitable for you. "

In my point of view, grammar is not very important in daily communication. Even the native speaker, they make a lot of mistakes when speaking. I believe the key point is in vocaburary and daily sentence. However, we should try to correct our grammar errors when practising english.

Some post above saying that Concordia's cs is better than Mcgill's. From my own experience, I can not agree with them. However, Concordia provides a lot of practical courses that we can see from it's website, that's a strength of it's program.

我认为Frankey在尽力使自己的语言客观,而不是举出一两个事例然后下结论.

Concordia谈不上是一流的学校,这点大家承认.只是有很多人在网上攻击Concordia. Concordia 的学生为了维护Concordia进行反驳罢. 你说你周围有人说Concordia的MBA可以和哈佛比美,这就有点搞笑了.不知道你周围都是些什么人.

你说的Concordia拒绝了一些优秀的学生而接受了一些差的,这种情况McGill也有,我就听说过.我的一位清华的朋友被McGill的CS本科锯,理由是他的GPA只有85.
至于你说的"CONCORDIA的CS 的毕业生的就业看看今年的吧不高而且就业的妇女居多!.那是许多计算机公司为考虑男女比例的结果."我看这又是你主观思维的结果,你是否了解McGill和其他学校的情况,请你谈谈,做个比较,然后再说明你的观点.
