In my offer letter,it said I need to study ESL207-209, but didn't ask me to take any test and other English courses. Do I need to take the test or continue studying English after ESL209?

Ask you a question. To spend three semesters in learning writing or in some other courses which do you prefer? Usually when you apply a job, nobody require you to write an essay. They want to listen what you say. Furthermore,for some students,taking ENGL212 can not earn credit. I think concordia need money. They don't want you to send money to Toefl.       frown

hey, what are you talking about? I have asked school, they said there is nothing more after passing ESL209.

If you have a Toefl score, you need not take ESL courses any more. But you must attend the UWT. I have not heard any Chinese student passed the test as well as a large number of foreigners.So we have to take ENGL206 & 212, which are provided to English major.
Is there any person passed the UWT?  eek!

If you get a good score in the placement test of English department, you don't neet to take ENGL206 or ENGL207, and can take ENGL212 directly.
I think students who pass ESL209 can pass ENGL212 if he/she spend more time.

我说几点：
1. 抵制很好，最好由集体出面，个人是没用的。（需要组织）
2. UWT是不可能过的，别试了，没用。
3. 在没有结果前，如果您的ESL课TAKE完了，赶快去考PLACEMENT TEST，然后读ENGL课，不要心存侥幸。否则耽误你毕业。
4. ENGL的课很难，要做好得低分的准备。我TOEFL 637，作文5分，但是ENGL206只拿了C+，不是说的那么容易的。老师鸡蛋里挑骨头，我让本地人改过的作文，老师批完后也是红红的一片。然后我207/212吸取了教训，不再敢大意，分别拿了B-。
5.ENGL212一般都能让过，但也要争取选个好老师。推荐我的那个老师Marilyn Sims，一般都给过了。（我们班只有一个人得了D-）
6. 读书过程中多交几个老外朋友，你可以帮助他别的方面，但那种能拿回来改的作文一定要先找老外改改。否则会死的很惨的。
7.多打听任教老师的口碑。做好选课前的工作。
