It might not be a good idea

I was told it is not a good idea to apply US visa for visiting parents in Canada, you get more chance of reject.

If your parents will come to Canada again, with the record of visited Canada, it should be easier to get a US visa in China, but if you don't think they will come to Canada again, you can have a try.

Actually, my parents are coming too, I am thinking the same thing as you, but I will wait unitl next time.

It is NOT a good idea!

I had the experience in applying for U.S. visas for my parents. The U.S. consulate officer seemd unhappy and asked why you didn't apply in China since it is hard for them to evaluate the materials here than those officers in China. Here they can hardly check the validity of your documents.

Finally, the officer gave a 3-month single-entry visas to my apparents (now usually the visa is for a year and multi-entry) and told us for the next time, my parents must apply for U.S. visas in China.

But the true reason is that my parents had been to U.S. twice and each time they only stayed for 1 or 2 months. So the officer said: "Based on your parents' very good visiting records, I will make an exception this time. But please remember that it is impossible for the next time."

thanks for your information.

jiandan

我申请美国签证时,寄到家里的表格和说明都表示得非常明确无误,“来加拿大探亲的人想VISIT美国,应该从原住国申请”。

At that time, my parents wanted to go to US to visit my sister, and my sister provided all the necessary documents. But in fact, the consulate officer even did not want to have a look at these documents. The officer thought that since your parents are Chinese citizens, they should apply for US visas in China.

Anyway, I think you can have a try and maybe the chance is 60%. $200 USD is not a big amount.;)
