加拿大华人圈的生意--可悲的“骨牌效应”

知道为什么中国人要靠降价来竞争吗,只因为国人都太精明和聪明了,一发现有地方比现在的便宜,立刻倒向那边,那管别的做生意背后的东西(做人),这一套也是国内商场目前的现状,我们只是把它拷贝到北美来了。说到底中国人在这里做的生意,十有八九都在做自己同胞的生意,所以运用在国内的一套商战逻辑也就是很顺利成章的事情!如果想真正的按这里的游戏规则来玩的话,那我们的生意范围就应该融入进这里当地人的游戏圈里,这也就是为什么在这里的中国人都想进西人的公司工作的原因所在!

没有PHOTOSHOP,画面粗糙,也算是帮你们生意人顶了!

不好意思,这机子软件不全,没有PHOTOSHOP,只好用WINDOWS附件简单做了一个,画面粗糙,但词能达意就好,也算是帮你们生意人顶了!

These are "one-man show" business, unable to represent all the business run by oversea Chinese. Those pick-up business are even under table, can't be treated same way.

In the business world, customers are God. You never blame on customers. It doesn't matter who you are, customers have all the reason to decide where they purchase. The emphasis on Chinese (cheap price) spending mentality is completely wrong. Chinese customers are smart and price-conscious, they will pay the price they derseve. If Chinese business owner can't get customes they need, they fail.

In the business world, it needs a lot of wisdom to win, because the owner has to create product or service people need, and has to have plan to win over competition. You have to use competition to improve your business practice, of course, customers alwasy benefit from competition.

Regarding those business mentioned here such as Driving School, driving coach, traveling agency, Weekly newspaper, or commercial Web site, I must say those owners don't know the business. Do they understand "niche"? Do they understand "segment"? Do they understand "positioning", do they understand customers?

So please don't blame on Chinese customers who are price-conscious. They are nothing wrong. Only one thing i have to remind our Chinese fellows that you don't drive a hard bargain over something, and should follow Canadian way.

I believe many fellows are new. I am the business man and have many Chinese business friends. Pricing policy is very important for business, but low-price policy creates long-term profit problems in small business. it works for big enterprises due to fierce competition, however, these companies are back by huge financial capacity, and have very high profits (even 50% discount is still profitable). i had a Canadian custome once who asked me if i could give volume discount, i refused to him but i explained why. Meanwhile, i referred him to another business who might need business and also is cheaper than mine. The customer was upset a bit and returned to me, because he didn't like that business right away. this is typical example. There was one Chinese customer witnessing the incident saying to me"你真为我们中国人争气,做生意做到这么有风度". It is nothing special, i know what i am doing, iam confident, i know i am better.

I can not agree with you more.

Some Chinese people who run business in Montreal are not real business man or woman. They have no business experience either in China or in Canada. Just because of life, or making a living, they became finance advisors, car coaches, real estate-agents, even weekly newspaper and Chinese website publishers. Actually they do have the competence to be a business man or woman.

Even more ridiculously, lots of Chinese business runner in Montreal always say, "I do it for servering Chinese community, not for money ". Bull shit! I told them "Serving Chinese community is not your business, it is the business of Canadian/Quebecois government or 中华人民共和国国务院侨务办公室"。

Business is business, you have to do it in a business way.

this word is more like a self-employment home business here.


customer is god??? it depend on what kind of customer are you facing. you can not treat dog as human being. even it sound offensive, but that is the principle.

when you have given all of your clothes to your "customer" already, and your customer still want take your underwear away, can you still keep patient, and tell him , here is canda, please respect canada value? if you meet one or two a day, that is fine, can you image that you meet this kind of customer very often within a single day?

do not talk about "segment", "niche",here, do not try to make a name of fool here by the word from books, even tenures speak out these words carefully. it make no sense, we are talking about the home business or small business in chinese community.

by the way, why not give us some case about how do you make your chinese customer accepte the price the same as your local-raising customer?

if you do not have catholicon, just forget it!!!!

If your customers switch to your competiters, meaning your customers don't think your price worth the value you offered. My friend, i really like to tell you something, but i don't feel it. We don't know each other, i just give some hints to small guys that they have to improve the quality of service instead of reducing price. I just didn't speak out for politeness )

Customers don't care about your capacity or talent or experience, it is your problem if you don't know how to business, customers pay for the service and your  personal expertise)

Anyway, it is very personal opinions. I have no time to teach your guys how to do business. If you meet "bad" customers, i am very sympathic to your situation. Some Chinese fellows do have very sick mentality to own Chinese business. I hate them as well. I heard some people take advange of free service from real estate agent. they switched agents every time, and even said these agents are free tour guild. These people are totally sick, mean and lack of respect.

这说明并新移民是最具发展潜力和竞争力

不同意楼主的观点,华人生意之所以近年来出现杀价抢市场的现象,根本原因是加入生意圈的新移民朋友太多,比如芝蒙城的华人便利店,10年前有几个华人在做,现在又有多少华人在做,相互削价竞争,也并不是华人贱,完全是近年来北美的零售市场发展太快,以前大超市都是几点开门关门,现在又是怎样?
所以看问题要客观些,不要动动就华人如何如何,随着新移民资金的积累,对加国各行业的了解,会有更多的新移民朋友活跃在各行各业大显身手.

I agree to YinYang about business'role in market, but Chinese customers really need to understand the relationship between price and value. Often, they like to bargain. They behave the way you feel insulted.  They go cheaper with no consideration of other factors. I can imagine some guys like  MZS who met cheap customers asking better price.
