you can go to downtown Lay Bay, there is tax retrun office
as a traviller, you can get some tax return as long as your goods bought within 60 days(not very clear); and you can to to downtown Lay Bay(metro McGill, ground floor, there is tax return office near to customer service department).
you can ask details there, and take a booklit in Chinese. however, they will charge fees for doing the tax return for you($3 + 5%*total amount). I am not 100% sure the percentage charged.
they will give you the remaining amount right away, but you need stampe your all the receipts at airport(Montreal) and send them back within certain days. otherwise, they will directly charge what they gave to you in your relatives' credit cards(when you do the tax return at the office, you need provide a credit card number)
if you buy large amount, it is worth to go to the office(service fees charged) and the airport (they will check your goods 1 or few items and stamp). if the amount is not large, it is better go to airport to do tax return.
in the airport, it will take at least 30 mins to do it all depends on how many people are waiting. |
