Hello everyone, this is Yeroon, your skating coach. For the past 3 weeks, we met for skating and skills exchange.. so fun! Please note that while this event is not free, it is very cheap and new people are always welcome to join!

**new meeting place ** come to Arena Bill Durnan directly. Since people may arrive at different times, you don't have to wait at the metro.

How to get there:
1. Plamondon metro on orange line
2. Plamondon exit (top of the station), go to Barclay street. At corner of Barclay and Victoria you can see a KFC restaurant....not a big shopping mall.
3. Walk west along Barclay until the intersection of Barclay/Lemieux
4. Look to the right, there's the arena
5. Enter the arena and pay $2.75 at the ticket booth on the right
6. If you need to rent skates, go downstairs to the Pro Shop, cost=$4.50

How to prepare:
Drink water or some beverage (tea...) before and during the lesson, so you can have more energy...

To find me:
Look for a tall, slim Dutch guy with white/gray/black jacket.

Hi to everyone who was interested to join Saturday March 11 at Arena Bill Durnan, 4988 Vezina. Due to a scheduling change, public skating was cancelled in preparation for a children's show.  I found out about this change upon arrival and unfortunately did not see the usual group members, instead I met a new participant.  
To have the lesson anyway, we went to another arena in NDG.  She received a private lesson and was very motivated to improve her skills, an example for us all.

Thank you for your understanding in the matter, hopefully such future situations will not be repeated.  Please watch this message board or your email for future announcements.

caribe2003, that's a good idea... we can all learn from each other.

News for the group: This weekend you are welcome to go for public skating at the regular place and time, however I will not have time to give the lesson.

Instead of being on the ice, I will be doing language training and studying for my Concordia courses.

However, next weekend it may be possible to skate at another time and place. This idea is for people who have their own skates. We can have the lesson at Westmount Arena, near Vendome metro.  It is free there, but you cannot rent skates.  Next Saturday Mar 25 evening or Sunday Mar 26 afternoon I should be available. More details will follow soon. Have fun skating!

How to get to Westmount Arena @ 4675 St. Catherine Street West.

option 1
Vendome metro (orange line) + walk east ~10 minutes or bus 90 east direction for just 3-4 stops, it's really fast. Walking there is convenient, just see this map:

Looking at the metro map, just continue to follow Rue Sainte Catherine, in east direction (see bottom right corner of the map) until the arena.

The arena is near the corner of Ste. Catherine and Landsdowne in Westmount.  While the arena is not shown on the metro map, I hope you can understand my explanation...

Tonight the group met at Westmount Arena, at the corner of St. Catherine West and Landsdowne.

The ice was great and there were at least 70% Chinese people there, quite amazing!  It really is the best indoor place for many reasons, next time have a look if you agree.

Due to some misunderstanding, I was told that the big rink would not be available, I am sorry to the friends with whom I shared this incorrect information. Actually, it should be no problem for the future, better luck next time.

I change my mind and decide to extend the lessons at least 1-2 more times, as long as I have time. Our group practice would be Saturdays ~19:00-21:00

Hi everyone, to help you find Westmount Arena at 4675 Sainte Catherine Ouest (West), just follow the yellow road on this map. The fastest way to reach the arena by metro is from Vendome station. You see the buildings at the corner of Landsdowne, just south of Westmount Park? There it is.

Sunday afternoon 14:30-17:00, the big indoor rink is also available. Remember to bring your own skates. I will try to be there next Saturday evening again.

Oh, maybe you are curious ... why do I like to give such precise directions, show maps, etc? Of course it's to help my friends to find the arena, but also because I enjoy to look at maps and study city layout.

Actually, for those that did not know it, I am urban studies (city planning) student at Concordia. This May I will have the opportunity to join a field course to Xuhui district in Shanghai! It will be my first time to China, hope to learn something from you next time ...

Hallo everyone, 2007 is here and I come back to sinoquebec.
My name is Yeroon, 荷兰人.

In May 2006, I went to Shanghai, Huangzhou, Shaoxing, Beijing.    for a Concordia city planning project.  I miss the delicious food!
