[电脑] 关于笔记本的 Warranty period

想买Dell笔记本，但发现1年与3年的的保证期价格相差近100美元。Dell的机器怎样，是否需要3年的warranty 呢？我本人是学经济的，对电脑硬、软件的维护都了解不多。什么样的适合我呢？

Mtl160,yes I am still in China now. My friend works in Dell US, she will buy the notebook for me with the staff discount, then deliver it to Dell Montreal office. So I can get it once I arrive in September.
BTW, what kind of Modem card do you suggest?
Internal 56K capable V.90 Mini-PCI Fax Modem, Internal 56K capable V.90 +10/100 mini combo or 56K V.90 Gold Card PSION Modem? Which is better?

Why don't you ask your friend in Dell US the difference among those three cards?
Since you're not a computer professional, I suggest you purchase 3 year warranty.
