I have the same MODEM problem when I applied the Sympatico HighSpeed service. It took me serveral days. Finally the reason is the connection of filter. You can disconncet every phone in your house and try to set the Modem. Even if you don't use the phone, you have to connect the filter and you have to connect every of them correctly. That is, the filter should be connceted on the wall outlet, LINE port to the wall jack, Phone port to your phone set. Maybe you have reset the modem or computer after you connect everything correctly.
