Recently on the 2nd floor of Concordia University, a man called Mike sits behind a table with a sign "Tenant's right". He helps tenants who think the rise of rent is too high. You pay him $10 ($5 in advance and $5 after) and he evaluates the rise rate that is reasonable, then he gives you a letter. If his evaluation's result is favorable to you(for example, the landlord want to raise the rent by $20, but this evaluation says it should be only $5), you can send it to the landlord and the landlord must abide by it, otherwise he is violating the law.
Actually Mike has been doing this work for some time. But it seems no Chinese knows about this. I think we should tell each other so that we don't suffer that much from those greedy landlord's crazy robbery. |
