You sould better to take Mutual funds as mid-term to long-term investments.

The fluctuation of the price is normal. In my point of view, I think the decreasing price of the mutual funds recently is a good chance for buyers. If you are a risk taker, now might be a good time for you to invest in mutual funds.

I redeemed my mutual fund recently.  I invested in (BMO0718: emerging market) mutual fund  for over 3 months.  I bought it at about $14.2..  3 months ago, then up to $15.5, then down to $12.9..., then up to $16.2..., then down to $15.5.., I sold it. I got about 8.5% capital gain. I think some mutual funds are too high risk for beginners.  

   BMO0718 is a good fund for aggressive investor. Its growth rates are over 15% for the recent 4 years.   if you can bear high risk , you can try it.
